Commuting for your job
In New York, it's not unusual to commute up to an hour and a half for your job. However, I will begin commuting between New York City and Los Angeles, CA at the beginning of next year for my job(s).
Does anyone else commute to another city for work? Do you drive? If you don't, what do you do during your commute time? Actual work? Or play? Catch up on sleep?

Re: Commuting for your job
10 mins by bus. 15 mins by walking. :) I live ten blocks from the Financial District where I work. :D

a lot of people on my project fly here for the job at the beginning of the work weeks, and fly back home on the weekends. that's how a lot of IT consultants are. some of them have done this for upwards of several years at different cities. they say that it can really tire you out and you never make many friends, and lose touch with your old friends this way. |

Re: Commuting for your job
I listen to loud music, sing, and check out people in other cars. I've had my license for a short enough time that driving is still a fun thing to do, so I don't mind the hour long drive to and from work.

Re: Commuting for your job
My commute is now 10 mins. I usually come home for lunch. I decided to put my IT consulting business on hold while the IT job market is down and get a permanent job.

Re: Commuting for your job
My uncle lives in the states nearly every other week. He travels between 3 or 4 states and then back to Japan each time he's here. Must be really rough. I saw him a few weeks ago and all of my family members were saying how worn out he looks.

Re: Commuting for your job
Traffic is the most stressful point in my day, my total commute time during a workday is 3:00 on average.
