Comedy Central/Tough Crowd

Anyone ever see this show? 4 comedians and Colin take on the "tough issues" with a little "humor"
Ive seen it twice and both times Colin Quinn has taken pot shots at Asians. His comment was that he was going to take an Asian girl to the prom but she told him no and went with the captian of the math club.

The fucked up thing about this specific show thats on right now is that they are talking about racism.

No asian comedieans were present either. There was a Italian, Black, two whites and Colin.

What the hell is that? Once again Asians are the butt of the joke because we are smarter than other races. That is the fact, period.

I watch comedy central all the time, but this show pisses me off.

Any thoughts? Can we petition? Any Asian groups you know about that address these issues?

Well, somehow there should be a tie-in to the racism vs. racism thread. That being --

If these fools can make their laughs on Asians, why not get some good material for Asians bagging on these type of clowns?

i haven't seen tough crowd but i've seen colin quinn on conan o'brien and kinda liked his schtick.....doesn't surprise me that he bags out asians coz he seemed to bag everybody else....esp the french (the interview was recorded at the height of the war in iraq)

not sure this would warrant a petition though - is stereotyping asians as smart that bad?

I don't think making that kinda jokes every once in a while is a big deal, since they make jokes about everyone else too.
It'd bother me if they made all the time though.

I wonder if there's an intelligence angle to those who would use such "easy" material as bagging on race as apposed to politics.

um, did you totally ignore all the jokes about whites, blacks and hispanics? every time i've seen it, they crack on everybody.

My take is that it would have been nice to have an Asian comedian in a discussion of 'racism.'

thing is most asian comedians talk about typical asian stuff like "math" or having strict parents, usually innocuous stuff really

or worse they break out into the kung fu stance (even though they're not chinese)

thing is how can activists get their point across that banzai is racist if asian comedians use the kung fu stance liberally?

People stereotyping all Asians as being smart are bad. Let’s start a petition!

Let’s teach them not to stereotype us as being smart (Leave all the stereotyping up to me)!

Hey everybody, thanks for the insults. All this from the people that support boycotting Abercrombie and Fitch for a stupid t-shirt.

Let them put us down and not say anything, even if they are putting down other races. Sounds good.

Go boycott your stupid t-shirt and clothing company all the while we are the butt of the joke.

well shit, lets go get us some shotguns... what do you want? some group that jumps all over anything involving the word "asian"? do you want a yellow panthers group? should we go string up a group of comedians because they didn't include an asian comic when the show isn't about racism, but the episode you're complaining about, was, and decided to do what they do with every episode and keep the same people?

if you're looking for people full of hate, like yourself, who thinks that any group that tries to make a difference but isn't exactly like you is bad, go ahead, cut off everyone who you feel is like that and see how many allies you have when you turn the apathetic cheek. i'd think you'd want a group that doesn't immediately bulldog something without knowing everything. you said yourself you didn't know much of the show, so why go jump all over them after i and a few others have told you you need to pay attention and realize they bash everyone, and especially whites. cry me a fucking river. :pissed:
