Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL) is proud to present our 11th Annual Summer Internship Program.

We are proud to offer the Summer Internship opportunity for young Taiwanese Americans. As part of its leadership development program, the Taiwanese American Citizens League Los Angeles Chapter (TACL L.A.), sponsors several internships at various offices of elected officials at federal, state, and local levels. Participants learn firsthand the inner workings of the political system. There are also various professional development internships available. The goal of this leadership program is to stimulate and promote the long-term interest of future leaders in all areas of service, both private and public while developing identity and character through cultural and community awareness.

WHEN: The 7-week program will begin on June 23, 2003 and end on August 8, 2003. Orientation/opening ceremony will be held on June 21st and the awards/closing ceremony will be held the weekend of August 17th.

WHERE: Political interns will be assigned to offices located throughout the Greater Los Angeles area or in Washington, D.C. Non-Political interns will be assigned within the Greater Los Angeles area or San Diego.

WHO: College students or recent college graduates.

HOW: To be considered, the following items must be submitted for review:
1. Completed application form.
2. A typed, double spaced statement of purpose (300-500 words) describing yourself, and reasons for your interest in this program.
3. Two letters of reference.
4. A copy of your most recent transcript.

(Applicants who pass this written portion will be contacted for interview)

The completed application package is due no later than Monday, April 28th, 2003. All final selections will be made by that date. Please send applications to:

OTHERL: Internship placement will be announced by May 1st, 2003. Each participant is responsible for his or her own transportation during the program. Washington, D.C. interns will be responsible for transportation to and from Capitol Hill. Participants will not receive compensation from the participating offices.
