i know we're a public forum already...
however, if we wanted to make yellowworld public on a larger scale--like asian avenue or the former click2asia, do you think we're ready? and if not, why not? constructive criticism welcome. |

Oooh. This I'd like to hear. I have my own ideas of course as to why.
One example: C2A at its height: just under 100 employees; yw: one, albeit obsessed, half-wit:P My friend helped raise $10MM in VC for C2A in one quarter; yw: $100:) Of course, one reason, we all know, for C2A meteor-rise, was because of certain *intensely* popular clubs on its site (*cough*...Global Koreatown...*cough*...Zooropa Women...*cough). I've never had grand aspirations for world domination or anything. I'm not even interested in making money off the site. It'd be great if the site could really become a place, where, quite simply, people could walk away with some value, whether it was through interacting with others or having learned something they hadn't before. As the learning curve for learning all this new stuff decreases, you'll see an improved site. I have a whole host of tricks up my sleeve...I just need the Geek-brains to implement them :D

and you'll need a business manager, but I can't do that.
But if you need a guy who stands around real quiet and looks tough -- I can do that.

Because if this site ever gets to where I want it to be, I think we'll all be pleased with the results: good value-added site first, Bill Gates second.

Unfortunately, riff-raff is an inevitability. I know of a few sites that try their best at keeping them out, some other sites even try their best at keeping *anyone* out who doesn't quite resemble their clique... As the site grows, so too will the forums. That's why having a good design, in terms of what our forums are, the topics, etc., is necessary now, so that it'll be stable in the future. Part of this ensuring that each forum maintain its own identity, because as the site grows, it will become more diverse, and having unique forums will only help that.

You wish! Wellz, I wont discredit your clubs and its popularity.. but there were a whole helluva lot of clubs out there that were successful when it came to its active message boards and membership numbers. And while Click2Asia may be kinda dead now.. there is the Korean Autumn Story Drama Fan club and a Vicki Zhao Wei Fan club.. that are still very active to this day..... And wellz, i guess what i loved about click2asia.. was its wide interest ppl had... and click2asia gave ppl an outlet for it all, when it came to creating different clubs/forums. And I liked c2a for its diversity in age range... And i guess yellowworld has a diverse age range too... Anyways, I believe Yellow_World has the potential of gaining such popularity.. like CLick2Asia and Asian Avenue. But I feel its just different than my experience in c2a, in terms of its limitations.... Cuz i admit, i do visit different forums that suit my specific interests. Altho I guess your right when you say... as the site grows, the more diverse it will get when it comes to interest and forum topics.. But anyways, if raising awareness and education about AA issues is your primary interest.... i believe its already successful in that area.. and i'm sure any new ideas that develope, will make it all the more better...

DON'T DO IT!
My old webforum I used to post on on a VERY regular basis (3-4 times a day for 45 minute sessions or so...) blew UP cuz it got so popular... I stopped posting. I couldn't keep track of who was who... and I didn't like most of the newbies... and.. it just starting getting too hard to read posts because they had too many replies. It was just too crowded and impersonal.

Regardless, I doubt we'll be exploding in numbers anytime soon without increased advertising. We've been growing at a steady, even pace, and it's nice...a couple of other members have expressed similar concerns, and I'm tossing around a few ideas in my head. One of them involves having a Yellowworld Survivor series...jk!
