FlareZz will become famous soon enough
a few minutes ago Bush raised the national terroist level from elevated to HIGH.
CNN reports a high likelyhood of attack from terroists using chemical and biological weapons. The government even stated that they were mainly concerned with the attack of civilian places like apts, amusement parks, sports arenas, etc.

So after hearing all this, i certainly feel a slight chill.
And i am wondering if anyone is going to take a certain approach to all this.
R u going to cancel that skiing trip coming up next week?
r u gonna stay home alittle more?
whatcha gonna do?

I'm one step closer in having to be vaccinated for smallpox now.

I know they're not fucking around with any threats here in NY. A couple of days ago we had a bomb threat around 9:30'ish AM and we literally evacuated the hospital. And from what I understand, back in the day prior to 9/11 they just chalked it up as a prank call either from the outside or by some crazy person from the psych ward.

We also got a memo stating that all MD's and residents now have to attend seminars on how to spot the symptoms and treat victims of chemical and biological warfare. Another memo on the various levels of alerts and alarms the hospital uses now.

Well, we have a few military bases (Army, Air Force, National Guard), Fort Huachua is a intel/surveillance site. A few arms and missile manufacturers, the Apache/Longbow helicopter is made here. We have a large international airport, some dams.

Stuff like that.

We also have a desert -- which makes it a good training site for US troops.

the american consulate in HK still thinks i'm living in HK. they still send me their email newsletters. i just got this today:

QUOTE:
The Department of State has instructed all missions and consulates worldwide to disseminate the following information to U.S. citizens overseas.

February 7, 2003 Public Announcement by the Department of Homeland Security

National Threat Level Raised to High

Based upon specific information analyzed by the intelligence community, and after conferring with the Homeland Security Council, the decision has been made to increase the national threat level from yellow "elevated risk" to orange "high risk."

Recent intelligence reports, corroborated through multiple intelligence sources, suggest an increased likelihood that the al Qaeda terrorist network may attempt to attack Americans in the United States and/or abroad in or around the end of the Hajj, the Muslim religious period ending mid-February of 2003.

This concludes the text of the February 7, 2003 Public Announcement by the Department of Homeland Security.

For further information on the February 7 announcement, please go to the Department of Homeland Security website at http://www.dhs.gov.

The Department of State continues to monitor security conditions overseas and, as always, will promptly disseminate information affecting the safety of Americans abroad through its consular information program. These documents are available on the Department's Internet website at www.travel.state.gov.

sometimes, i fuckin hate living in ny.
damn, i wish i lived in... um, switzerland.
or something.
living close to two airports, i jump a mile
everytime i hear a plane.
and i'll stop in my tracks and watch a plane
fly by, just to make sure it's not crashing
into some fuckin building.
i continued with my daily routine since then
but there's always that nagging fear
in the back of my mind.

I still love it. It's a hassle sometimes, like every major holiday, security is beefed up, so traffic is a bit hectic. Flying is a mess now, with long lines and agonizingly slow check-ins. I had my swiss army knife confiscated from my key ring, but it's my own fault, I should have known better. Over all though, I really, love living in NY.

kangal is on a distinguished road.
for y'all big city kids, the one consolation that you can have is the notion of "soft-target terrorism"....the experts think that an attack on a utilities plant or say a small-town Wal-Mart would have MUCH greater of an impact and way easier to perform; it would strike into the psyche of Americans, and me, more so if terroists bomb a random town in Iowa; that shows unpredictability and without reason...great ingrediants to create even more fear.....

BUY THE DUCTTAPE AND PLASTIC BINDINGS. SECURE YOUR HOMES. LEAVE NO AIR TO SEEP INTO YOUR HOME!

oh whatever, I care not, and plan not, to abide by the advice our government is feeding us. Crud it. It's just one of those "make you feel like you're in control" type of things like placing ourselves underneath a table during a nuclear fallout. I'm just gonna live life, and care about more important things. Like posting on YW. :D

wow ah...oops applehead (AH doesn't work well as an abbreviation ;)) i live in the same neighborhood but i'm not really bothered by that. what annoys me is when planes fly by and it's really LOUD and i have to close the window just to carry on a phone conversation.

alt. come to think about it i don't hear a lot of planes anymore.

i'm really oblivious. :(

Yeah... I'm so not concerned... if there's a terrorist attack, what exactly are we gonna be able to do differently? It's not like the gov't has been able to say *where* and *when* to avoid...
