It's been quite a long time since I wrote a poem....

So here it goes.

Untitled

The lines run across my face
Like rivers in a beaten path.
Gradually, the years set in
And think ‘bout my broken past.

Play’n guitar with naiveté,
Ready to soak the world in.
“I can’t play for shit!” I say,
But I can write like music

If you carefully listen.

I grew up like a princess
Until the age of fifteen,
In a castle with no fortress
And walls that suffocate me.

At my weakest, I’m reckless.
At my strongest, I’m profound.
You think you really know me?
You haven’t figured me out.

My stature is soft and meek.
Attention toward me is futile.
My voice is not for mine own
But to help the less agile.

I’m not here to save the world.
I’m here to save what I can.
Uncle Sam is not a God.
You and I are only men.

I am as American as chop suey,
As Chinese as my last name.
The offspring with Saigon hopes
for a city that once reigned.

I like it.
At the poem's weakest, it's reckless, and at it's strongest, it's profound ^^ Well written, and a nice venture back into writing!

that cool line is simple yet speaks volumes. you do that well. really like this.

would like to read your 'third person' poems sometime.
to speak in third person - writing the subject in a way that draws attention away from the author and more towards the subject at hand... then in turn touching many readers' hearts.
