Re: Gellar on Asian films
She maybe referring to her character in the Grudge.
Because that chick ghost character sucked.

Re: Gellar on Asian films
Well, we are talking about the woman that played Buffy AND Daphne in Scooby-Doo.

Re: Gellar on Asian films
Buffy was a very strong female role. Not so sure about Daphne.

Re: Gellar on Asian films
Yes, I especially love the Asian films where the strong, ambitious young woman is chastised by society for her independence and needs to fall in love with a suitable old, domineering male suitor to learn her place.

Liked the original version of the Grudge vs the American remake

Re: Gellar on Asian films
But I thought Asians bound their women's feet and forced them to be geishas? Isn't it up to the West to save Asian women?

Re: Gellar on Asian films
What SMG was might've been wrong, but it was not bad and was actually a positive thing. I salute her for her misbelief.

Re: Gellar on Asian films
I think its factually wrong, but maybe that's just my impression of Asian film. I don't see more strong female characters there than I do in US films. Doesn't really matter either way, I don't see a basis for criticism for anything she said.

Re: Gellar on Asian films
On the one hand it's nice to see recognition (from the white people we worship so much)
but on the other hand, yes the grass is always greener... |
