See, I haven't heard that before. I wouldn't even know what's to bash, if anything.

Re: my adventures in hickville.-rr is getting too serious.
black people are the majority in the southern states. their fates are still controlled by white people there. the southern states are still controlled by whites. why, if black people are the majority?
it's the same in the southwest. the southwest is majority Mexican. but the southwest is still controlled by whites. they need a third party to vote for. a favorite trick of white people is to run two white people, in both parties for republican and democrat. the democratic party has a history in the south of being racist. the republican party is just anti-human in general. so people have no reason to vote. the south is also the bible belt. the majority black areas are very religious. what they need is a black people's christian party to appeal to both religious beliefs and racial oppression.

Re: my adventures in hickville.-rr is getting too serious.
^ Since when were Maryland and Virginia southern states? I know about the whole Mason-Dixon line, but this is 2006, that means nothing nowadays.
Anyway I knew that blacks were not a majority in any southern state (or any state period, really). As a matter of fact, there are only a handful of states in the U.S. that have a minority-majority. Texas is one of them, and so is California. I believe New York may be another one, and possibly Illinois and Florida. But those are the only ones. I know TX and CA are like that, not really sure about the other ones. However, it is worth noting that there are large portions (as a matter of fact, entire counties) in the Deep South that are majority black. QUOTE:

Maryland might not be the South, but Virginia south of Fredricksburg should still be considered part of the South.
I grew up in Richmond and trust me, if you go to high school and pickup trucks with gun racks and Conferderate flags are parked in the student lot, that means that you're still in the South.

Re: my adventures in hickville.-rr is getting too serious.
I remember in Osoyoos, BC ( a small town in western Canada lets just say) some white ppl came up to me and said "Konnichiwa!" I wasn't offended, I've been mistaken for Japanese before, so I humoured them and said " Ohaiyo Gozaimasu. Nihongo Ga Dekimasu ka?" They started at me like I was some kind of space alien. (I bowed to them at a 45 degree angle as well.) I then laughed, said "actually I'm Chinese and I'm from Vancouver". And then they kept staring at me, so i repeated what I said, in perfect north american english. They then said that Vancouver was a "huge city" and that they got lost there. I don't think Vancouver's a "huge city" but whatever.
Gosh its so much easier to live as an Asian in Vancouver or Toronto than a small town. Even in Montreal I was kind of stared at by some older folks.

Well I won't debate you, but I've been to Richmond several times. I'm from Alabama, I know what the south is, and Richmond did not feel very southern at all. You can find rednecks (and yes, even rebel flags) in New York and Pennsylvania. There's a park named after Robert E. Lee in Baltimore. Does this make those places southern? Alabama has hippies, gays, Catholics, Jews, and even a ski resort, among other things that people think don't exist here. Does this mean that we're a northern state? We could debate this all day, which is why I won't ![]() QUOTE:

Man, it's hard to imagine how that'd feel to be an 'attraction' up there. I guess the best thing to do is to stick to the cities.
As for the confederate flag, most people nowadays sport it as a sign of southern pride and nothing else.
