my head kind of aches whenever i see this discussion. :( haven't we had it before already?

anyway, i don't think the yellow as in cowardly came from yellow as in race, alt i guess it may be a problem when ppl associate "yellow" ppl w/ the yellow in cowardliness. But that's why we're really GOLDEN, baby!

the only time i've heard "Yellow" as referring to cowardly is in Westerns ... oh yeah and in Back To The Future. But I think if someone actually said that, listeners would either get confused or make fun of the speaker for sounding like such an old fogey ...

I don't see why it should.

don't think the author of catcher in the rye meant to associate 'yellow' with the asian race. it just became an expression to mean some one is cowardly...

as for the definition in the webster's dictionary... i don't know why they associated it w/ skin colour. does that have to do w/ race? or some one having yellow jaundice? either way... i think they need to update their definition.

then again, they do the same thing w/ 'black'.
