Re: Condor Heroes animated series
No, it's not worth it. Instead, you should use the money to buy your girlfriend nice gifts.

Re: Condor Heroes animated series
i saw it or the first half at any rate. if you're a really really big fan you might want it just to say you have collected everything, but otherwise i wouldn't bother. its like watching the cliff notes version of the TVB series -- much of the meaning is lost. Siu Long Niu (Dragon Girl) doesn't even wear white. on the other hand the China version is coming out soon. saw the trailer and it looks awesome! at least much bigger budget than all tvb remakes and i didn't really like the taiwan version. looking forward to this one. i just reread the thread -- did you mean the first story or the second -- i meant the second Return of the Condor Heroes

a friend of mine said it was especially huge in China because it was the first of its kind shown in the mainland. previously it was all about propaganda government programming on TV. i just wished that my Chinese reading was good enough to read the actual novels themselves. i'm too lazy to sit there with a Chinese dictionary and look up every other character that i don't remember. |

Re: Condor Heroes animated series
*Bump* to a really old thread. I was at a Fry's Electronics out here in California (http://www.outpost.com) and I saw the Condor Heroes Animated Series, produced by Tai Seng Entertainment. It came with Cantonese, Mandarin, and English dubs/subs for all three languages too.
I want to find the version I was used to watching in the late 90s here in SF on KTSF. The Dragon Girl (Siu Long Niu) was really pretty in that one. I just don't remember which company produced the version I saw. It was the complete story from when Gwah Yee was getting trained to the part where him and his one armed self found the then ambidextrous Siu Long Niu. -sighs wistfully- So anyways, I'm enjoying the Cantonese dubs on this animated series. Helps me keep practicing listening in Canto. |

would you guys think they would ever run these series in the american tv? nickelodeon? i think there would there be an audience for it. |

Re: Condor Heroes animated series
There is also a graphic novel adaptation/translation that is actually pretty entertaining (it mainly focuses on the kung fu parts).
http://www.amazon.com/Legendary-Coup...964985-9522421 sadly, the company went out of business so those of us that can't read chinese are left only about a 1/3 of the way through. |
