Re: what party do you like?
I've lean more on the moderate-liberal side of view on issues. Though I lean towards the Democrats because of that, I really am disillusioned with the party system. Who says that ideology has to be monopolized by an organized political party? I feel uncomfortable labelling myself with a party now, I would pick none.

Re: what party do you like?
Protest votes are okay.
But like the 80-20 group suggests Asians can be a bloc vote like the Jewish bloc vote so that as only 4% of the population we can have more political power. The 80-20 Initiative is a national, non-partisan, and Pan-Asian-American political organization. The basic idea is to urge Asian Pacific Americans (APAs) to form a swing bloc vote so that we become a vital political force in affecting the Presidential Election. Purpose? To induce both major political parties to take our community's interests seriously and help us achieve equal opportunity. Aren't we accorded equal opportunity already? No. Please visit http://www.80-20initiative.net/ . It presents strong statistical evidence on the existence of a glass ceiling above APAs. Email sbwoo@80-20initiative.net to sign up for the mailing list. This project's popular appeal is field-tested. More than 90% of a random sample of Asian Americans, having received 5 recruiting e-mails, become strong or moderate supporters for forming a bloc-vote. 80-20 is registered with Fed. Election Comm. (FEC) as a Political Action Committee (PAC). What does "80-20" mean? The name 80-20 was chosen as indicating what proportion of votes is the most effective to gain political clout. We want to unite 80% of APA voters in each Presidential election to support one presidential candidate. See below for information about how a voting pattern of 80 to 20 will work to gain us equal opportunity and political influence. Last edited by nola; 10-10-2005 at 11:45 AM. |

I suppose I'm contributing to the spoiler effect, but I'm not wasting my vote so long as it can be counted numerically or percentage-wise. I mean, sure it's not enough to make a difference, but at least people can see in results that X% of people voted libertarian.

Re: what party do you like?
i kind of wonder what happens if some very promising politician all of a sudden goes independent or changes to a third party. i'm not talking about someone like Ross Perot. i'm talking about someone like Barack Obama.
incidently that also raises an interesting question - what if a black presidential candidate was running in a third party or independently? would that throw a big monkey wrench in our current two-party politics? |

Re: what party do you like?
In the States I'd either be a Moderate Democrat or a Moderate Republican. Either way, I'm a moderate.
But leaning to Republican, I suppose. It makes no difference really. I vote based on issues and not on party loyalty. Things change over time.
