An ex is getting married

an ex from HS is now married and just had a baby. it was weird to find this out and look at the pics (no i'm not stalking him, hah - my friend is still friends with his cousin) only because that was such a looooong time ago (10+ years) and is such a blur to me now. he was my first bf, but we were only going out for like...4 months or something.

Oh damn! All this time I've been casually reading the thread and I'd completely forgotten that I heard through the grapevine that my own ex from high school got married a while ago. Duh! I hadn't really thought about her for years, so it didn't really phase me at all. And a more recent ex is getting married in September. It's cool though 'cause we're on good terms and I'm happily in a relationship. I'm sure if I were unhappily single, news of such events might be more bothersome.

eh? I consider Vietnamese and culture to be perhaps the closest culture that any have with any other compared with every other culture. Kind of like the Korean/Japanese culture if you ask me.

Nope, no cultural pressure by parents, both sets of parents are rather accustomed to Western cultures, one of my brothers married a Greek woman.

same, but he was an ex from high school - college for four years. my friends found the baby pics on friendster. it didn't really bother me at all - the past is passed, and i think that you probably have unresolved issues if this would bother you. my two thoughts when i saw them: 1) baby's cute and 2) so glad it wasn't me.

I think deep down inside, there's a part of us that would still like to be thought of, or to be felt special in that same way by that previous someone. Almost selfishly, we don't want to be "replaced," even though we know purty well the deal is, or will be when we break up with them.
