colors for men

what are the colors that would look good for asian skin tones?

i find all the 'rules' you always hear tend to be geared towards whites, and something which wouldn't work for asians.

for example, the suggestion to choose a color that picks up your eye color really wouldn't work for us since this would mean we would wear brown. but, brown wouldn't look good on us.

and, even though we really aren't 'yellow', we should stick away from yellow, right?

i actually picked up one of those books about this subject, but i find it to be so vague and nebulous to be totally unhelpful.

it said something about underlying skin tone being blue or red, and you had to put those two colors next to your face to decide what you were. but, if i could do that, then i wouldn't be reading the book, would i?

Re: colors for men

I like black shirts because they match dark hair. I like white shirts because they contrast dark hair. That is the extent of my fashion sense.

Re: colors for men

Uh yeah, I'll have to second that. I also like to throw in a blue shirt if I happen to feel particularly wild and wacky that day.

On a more serious note, I think gray dress shirt-looks look great on Asians. It gives you that rebellious vibe that can be sexy and criminal at the same time-you know girls dig the bad boys. Way too many Asian guys wear black. Black Tees, pants and shoes, and it just looks stuffy on them. Stay away from the jeans too, as not too many Asian guys can fill out a pair of jeans too well-but khakis are another story. Anyway, what the hell am I talking about fashion for. I own 2 pairs of pants and 10 T-shirts that I bought from Goodwill.

Re: colors for men

i just wonder if its a guy thing, and how we aren't used to colors.

seriously, i've never been more confused by the info that you had to diffentiate whether or not the color you were interested in had a yellow undertone or a pink/blue undertone. i just look at a color, and say that's the color, not that it has some under color undertone in it.

Re: colors for men

I think this has to do with the fact that colors can either be considered "warm" or "cool". Blue tends to be cool, but if you add the kind of red it can also be considered a "warm" color. Likewise for reds. If you add a cool blue, a red will tend to look cool and the same thing can be said about the opposite.

That's basic color theory, don't know how much it pertains to fashion though.

Re: colors for men

Wait a minute, there are men (straight men, I assume) who try to match their clothes with their eye color?

That's beyond being metrosexual. That's just................I like being fresh, looking good just as much as anybody else but I would never take it that far. Who you trying to impress by doing that?

Re: colors for men

I prefer not to look good. I just like looking average to below average, hence the Goodwill clothes and unkempt hair. But I don't think much wrong with a hetero guy trying to color co-ordinate his warddrobe-it's not something you would notice anyway, his eye colors I mean, unless you were like right up to his face. Therefore, I assuming it's meant to impress the girl he's with and not the general public.

Re: colors for men

My wardrobe is typically black, white, gray and blue. Little bit of variation, but not much.

Re: colors for men

Wear your clothes before you buy them. I know it takes more time, but at least you won't be pissed when you go home and discover that it looks like crap on you.

Re: colors for men

any color look good on me because i am just one hella good looking guy. all colors just enhance on how hella hot and handsome i am.

the saying how clothes make the man does not apply to me. in my case, a man, i.e. giorgio armani, domenico dolce and stefano gabbana, tom ford, john varvatos, michael kors, salvatore ferragamo, paul smith etc etc etc, makes the clothes for the man and the man just so happens to be me.

Re: colors for men

How can CB be the Man when he's still Chasiubao Boy?

A boy cannot be a man, much less the Man. Its binary, either or, but not both.

No, he needs to be Chasiubao Man first before he can be the Man.
