Re: Asian Models
QUOTE:
it's the same as most models in general. like someone else said...models are not primarily there to be attractive, they're there to be good showcases for the clothes they were. secondary for a model is looking good, and oftentimes for runway models it's the exotic, striking, and unusual that is desired. for more mainstream modeling such as for people magazine ads or something to equate sex/cool with a product, i.e. taking pretty pictures of pretty people wearing pretty clothes, attractiveness usually comes first over how well they wear the clothes.

Re: Asian Models
this topic is especially relevant since i just watched parts of the america's next top model marathon season 1 on vh1.
i didn't catch everything, but i still can't understand how elyse, the ambivalent model/ pre-med student didn't win. sure, i'd rather have adrian curry who's hotter in a playboy kinda of way but adrian was as graceful as a tobacco spitting truck driver when she stomped down the runway. but, when i looked at elyse, her look just seemed perfect for those editoral/ fashion runway oppurtunities. elyse was still stunning looking, and i just loved the moment when elyse tried explaining the role of estrogen in physical beauty to the judges. although, i must say i wonder if PC was the reason why Robin was kept on the show for so long. from what i saw, she was a total bitch, couldn't do the assignments, and yet was kept till the final 4 cause she could represent a new type of beauty or some bs like that. |

Re: Asian Models
As mentioned prior, the Japanese runway model Juliana Imai has too exploded onto the scene. In terms of popularity, I would say Ms. Imai, as seen from the Spring n' Fall fashion weeks of 2005, at least equals that of Korean runway model, Hye-Rim Park.
Juliana Imai / Woman Models Personally speaking, I much prefer Juliana's moreso matured, edgier look as opposed to that of Hye-Rim's. Nonetheless, I am proud to say that both these Asian females have managed to break the cultural barrier into the exclusive world of high-fashion modelling and will no doubt see success in their now temporary careers. -Matt Last edited by lifeinmono; 06-03-2005 at 10:58 AM. |

Re: Asian Models
Most ppl thought Elyse was a better model. I love Adrianne because she's a cool Chicagoan.

Re: Asian Models
She's softer and cuter than the harder looking models. I like her better too.
