West Los Angeles: Cafe Muse on Sawtelle/Olympic.
Pretty cool place, okay to very good drinks pending on who's there that night (usually better on the weekend). They have some good food and desserts there. Also, once in a while (may become a monthly thing) a couple bands get together and provide music entertainment. I already played there twice. ![]()

Re: Best Bars in your Area?
there's a place in DC called The Brickskeller. it's pretty nice and they claim to have like a thousand beers on their menu or something.
The Brickskeller Beer List not necessarily my favourite bar, but great for getting beer. the "lounge" seems to be becoming popular in DC. they lay some couches down, have a live band, but the atmosphere is almost like you're in a club because it's crowded and there might be people dancing. it's pretty nice and i like it. |

Re: Best Bars in your Area?
the titty bar me and my friends got kicked out of when i told the stripper to have some dignity and then tried to cover her boobies with two burgers on my plate during their buffet hour.
they had the best two dollar burgers and budweisers were also two bucks during their buffet hours. other than that, i just go to neighborhood dive bars. |

Re: Best Bars in your Area?
QUOTE:
Okay, if you live in London or planning on visiting, I highly recommend the following bars (not pubs) in the East End (Shoreditch): Get of Old St Station and go to: The Bedroom Bar (there's a double bed at the corner of the bar!) Cocomo's (decent cocktails) Strongroom Bar (part of Strongroom Studios; plenty of musician-celeb-wannabe's) and Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes Bar 34-36 Kingsland Road, Shoreditch, LONDON, E2 8DA The most whacked out bar I have ever been too. Here's a review: "Their hairdos may resemble a nuclear fall-out, but London’s style-setters take their drinking dens without the frills… It doesn’t take much to have the Hoxtonites queuing up to spaff their dole check on over-priced bottled beer. In fact very little– minimalism of décor, simplicity of idea and understatement – is exactly what it does take to qualify as a going concern in that peculiar pubic-landing-strip of style which nestles south of the great hairy belly of Dalston and north of the money-shot of city bars and strip joints. For, whilst their barnett may resemble a nuclear fall-out, the style-setters of swinging millennial London prefer their drinking holes to have the simple, low-rent ambience of a grubby northern chip shop. Or, in the case of Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes, a Jewish fashion accessory wholesaler. With its dog-eared shop signs, and scuffed full-drop shop windows, at first sight the façade of Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes resembles a final resting home for crack-addicted goldfish. Squeeze past the snaking queue of mawkish, mohicaned urbanites and Zara-clad women’s glossy brigade (testament to its status as venue du jour) and you make it into an unexceptional style bar – with low leather sofas, poor lighting, ductwork and a risibly idiotic layout (which guarantees you’ll spend half of the night being shunted against the 6-deep bar queue). Downstairs, the low-ceilinged dance floor – adapted from a shoe storage cupboard and with a faint residual chemical whiff of bubble-wrapped faux leatherwear – is claustrophobic, with more low-wattage lighting and rough, exposed brickwork. My rising urge to rip my clothes off and run screaming towards fresh air was, thankfully, quelled by the bright graffiti-inspired artwork adorning the walls – the one area where the DBJS’s proprietors have struck pay dirt. Every month the walls will be blanked out and resprayed by London graf artists. The current exhibition is themed for the cult film release Donnie Darko, with all works completed within 24 hours. The pieces range from the sublime lines and 3-D depths of well-known London graf-heads Solo One and Snug, to pieces that look like they may have been scraped off the inside of a U-bend. But, as one of the few venues featuring the cutting-edge art that enlivens the local streets (rather than saleable Habitat-esque acrylics) Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes should be applauded. The venue is just finding its feet with musical output. One of the most intriguing premises is All Records 99p (Wednesdays). Eight DJs are charged with playing a half-hour set using only records bought in charity shops with a £10 budget. What this will sound like in practice is anyone’s guess, but an interesting idea nonetheless, and one perfectly fitting to this obscure bargain-basement bar experience." Re: Best Bars in your Area?
Bars are generally the swankier version where you can dress up, buy cocktails, groove to some funky beats the dj is playing, etc. Whereas pubs are kinda like your middleclass watering hole (think Coronation St), very casual, you can bring your family, etc and they're open mid-morning so you can catch a pint of lager if need be.
