Isn't Fremont fairly diverse socio-economically but tending towards the affluent-side of things? The audio talks about million-dollar houses. There isn't a single million-dollar house for miles from mine and I'm upper-middle class. I say that community is affluent, even for Cali. Btw, did you grow up in Fremont? You attend Mission San Jose High? Just curious. What makes Fremont ghetto? B/c it's majority minority?

i didn't grow up in fremont. i've had friends who went to mission san jose, and they've considered themselves to have gone to a ghetto high school. it's not that they're ghetto *people*, it's just the neighborhood. in the 80's and early 90's, they had an extremely poor school system, and the teachers were literally on strike every other day. when i was in middle school, i kept in close touch with a couple of friends who lived in fremont, and they just stayed home most of the time. this led to the children hanging out outside of school, being mall rats, not learning, etc. in high school, if we wanted to date bad boys, it would be guys from oakland, san francisco, san jose, and fremont. and concord.

fremont is mostly townhomes, no? that's how i remember it to be. and yes, there are a lot more minorities there than some of the other suburbs in cali.

Fremont is a huge city. There's a very wide range of different sorts of neighborhoods in the city. Labeling Fremont as either "ghetto" or "affluent" would be like labeling San Jose as either. You have to specify which area you're referring to.

Isn't this part of the problem why Asians are rarely viewed as "real Americans"? There's a problem that threatens everybody of all races and cultures, and instead of trying to fix it through political action or whatever, Asians just want to segregate themselves and live in some kind of bubble community.

Fremont is a ghetto?

All I see is rich Taiwanese and Indians over there.

Fremont isn't the issue. Oakland should be.

White population in Oakland is over 50%. Yet, the Oakland Unified School district white population is only 4-5%.

It's not a secret that white people are abandoning public schools where minorities thrive.

Why are you blaming the asian community for this? It's called white flight for a reason.

I think you need to rephrase that, unless you really want to use "thrive" only to denote population ratios and not any sort of benchmark for success.
