Cool Country music anyone???

Are there any country music fans here? I'm just curious to see if there's a following on yw:) Any favorite musicians? I go for Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Shania, Faith, Kenny Chesney, Lonestar, Trisha Yearwood, LeeAnn Rhimes, and Dixie Chicks. I don't go for the honky tonky music though. Hey, even I have my limits :)

Here's a song I like at the moment.

Gretchen Wilson's Redneck woman:

QUOTE:
Well I ain't never
Been the barbie doll type
No I can't swig that sweet champagne
I'd rather drink beer all night
In a tavern or in a honky tonk
Or on a 4 wheel drive tailgate
I've got posters on my wall of Skynard, Kid and Strait
Some people look down on me
But I don't give a rip
I'll stand barefooted in my own front yard with a baby on my hip

Cause I'm a redneck woman
And I ain't no high class broad
I'm just a product of my raisin'
And I say "hey y'all" and "Yee Haw"
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Charlie Daniels song
So here's to all my sisters out there keepin' it country
Let me get a big "Hell Yeah" from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

Victoria's Secret
Well their stuff's real nice
Oh but I can buy the same damn thing on a Wal*Mart shelf half price
And still look sexy
Just as sexy
As those models on TV
No I don't need no designer tag to make my man want me
You might think I'm trashy
A little too hard core
But get in my neck of the woods
I'm just the girl next door

Hey I'm redneck woman
And I ain't no high class broad
I'm just a product of my raisin'
And I say "hey y'all" and "Yee Haw"
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Tanya Tucker song
So here's to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big "Hell Yeah" from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

I'm redneck woman
And I ain't no high class broad
I'm just a product of my raisin'
And I say "hey y'all" and "Yee Haw"
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Ol' Bocephus song
So here's to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big "Hell Yeah" from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

I Said Hell Yeah
Disclaimer: I'm not a redneck but I act like one sometimes.... kiddin

Re: Country music anyone???

Good stuff. I like all the artists you listed. Tim McGraw's awesome. I also like Collin Raye & Garth Brooks. There's this one song by Reba McEntire that I really like - "I'll Be"...that music vid made me tear. Lol. & also, LeeAnn Womack is pretty cool, too. I haven't been keeping up w/ the lastest Country music, so I dunno what new stuff is good.

Re: Country music anyone???

I listen to some Country once in a while. I honestly don't see how they are much better or worse than all the other genres, and sometimes I prefer it over all else. But then again, to me it's all just music and simply about whether or not it sounds good to me.

Re: Country music anyone???

just the older stuff - Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Emmylou Harris.

but some country chicks are hot. like Shania Twain and Faith Hill. have to admit that Leeann Rhimes has a great voice. her rendition of Blue was always very good.

Re: Country music anyone???

I see the appeal among middle America, but that sound has never really done anything for me. It's always carried this "corny" vibe amongst my peers and myself, and though I had a girl that tried to persuade me to enjoy it, I just couldn't bring myself to it.

My kid starting singing "Redneck Woman", and I couldn't believe it.

Yep.

When others were throwing away their CD's, I went out and bought one.

Now, if they turn-out to be pro-life, or something, I'll consider tossing my CD, too...

Hey, look at it this way: if your kids are singin' "I'm a Red. Neck. Woooman", maybe somewhere out in White suburbia there's some little blonde girl runnin' around shrieking "You're easy-breezy and I'm Ja-pa-nee-zee!"

Actually, that's probably a worse scenario than the one you described...

i don't like what's new and popular now, but older country musicians like Willie Nelson has a good sound. you should give it a try.

you know, the funny thing about the average redneck woman that listens to country music is that it would take a whole lot of work for them to look like female country singers.

Re: Country music anyone???

I like some, but I'm not sure which or all of who I like.

I like the more mellow but poppish sounding ones and the soulful mountain music sounding ones.

Some of the stuff is way too corny for me, though. Like the trying to be cool music. Like Save a Horse--Ride a Cowboy. It's only slightly funny the first time around.

I like more story telling stuff like On a Bus To St. Cloud.

I like LeeAnn Womack and Shania Twain.

Patsy Cline has been in my CD player forever.

Ha!

I'd get a weird feeling if some white surburban kid was rapping:

Now, I'm gon learn Chinese.
Now, I'm gon be Chinese.
