i like the gmail's threaded messages the best. it keeps my inbox small and everything in context.

speaking from an IT project management perspective, you never want to implement change all at once, all across the board. if there are defects, they would be very costly to fix and recover from.

I think yahoo started this, with the 150 MB storage, then good ole microsoft finally bite the dust and increased the storage as well....

Every American would get 2MB paid for by a 5% payroll tax. And the program would still be bankrupt.
The libertarians would argue that the government should stay out of the e-mail business. But of course by now people are too used to government-sponsored e-mail that the libertarian position is too politically unpopular.
The Democrats would argue that we need to increase the storage space and we would pay for it with a tax increase on those Americans who have broadband. All in the name of helping the poor. "The poor have a right to quality e-mail and those with broadband should share the wealth!"
The Republicans would pay lip-service to how great of a program it is but also complain that it's financially bloated. Unlike the libertarians, the Republicans don't want to privatize it though because "Government regulation of e-mail is vital to our national security. You don't want Saddam talking to Al Qaeda over the internets."

They didn't do it all at once. However, the did seem to do it all in about half a week.

I'm still at 2MB too... EVERYONE I know with a hotmail account has 250MB except me.

However, I did just sign up for Gmail!! :-)
But I can't figure out how to send out invites?? There's no link or anything for it...

I just got that email right now, but I'm not sure how many megs I have. I really don't care either way since I don't think I'll ever need to archive 250mb worth of emails.
