Outlook 2004-2008

Bleak. I think Ohio's done for.

Oh, it will be great for the Republicans and their mantra of "god, guns, and gays", but for the rest of the nation, and to some parts of the rest of the world, it will be weird.

Conservativism has risen its head to quite an extreme, and its scary to think where we will go with it in 2004-2008.

The big concern will be Iraq, and finding a viable "exit strategy". After that recovery from the costs of such a war. And it looks like Iran is also a big concern.

But "god, guns, and gays" will be that nagging thing that the conservatives will be flaunting in our faces throughout the next administration.

Re: Outlook 2004-2008

both parties played to the fear of terrorism, except that the Republican party is a stronger advocate of military action, that's why they got more support if your major concern is terrorism.

at any rate, i hope this doesn't mean Cheney is going to run in 2008. if he wins, i'm getting the fuck out of the country.

Re: Outlook 2004-2008

LOL. I doubt Cheney will run in 2008. I doubt he'll make it:)
Nah Guiliani is a big name for the Republicans among some and Hilary for the Democrats.
All I can say is that if a Democrat wants to win the White House in 2008, they better try to get some votes in the South and the Midwest to cut the Republican monopoly. Kerry failed miserably.

Values was the driving factor in this election. Terrrorism was a close second.

Kerry has conceded to Bush.

all of you that's been pining and pondering whether or not to move back to asia and was vehemently anti-bush, this is probably a strong impetus in your decision for moving back.

I like him so far. Pataki also wants to run I hear. What do you think about that? I'm wondering who has more of an advantage in the South and the Midwest; Guiliani or Hilary?

I've been engrossed to the t.v. for most of the night, unable to sleep because I've been so anxious to find the latest news. Thank goodness it's finally over.

I just hope the country stops being divided!

I certainly hope so. The more Guiliani is out in the spotlight to prepare for 2008, the better.

Re: Outlook 2004-2008

As long as I'm working in corporate America, it looks like I'm stuck using Microsoft Outlook. Too often nowadays, I have managers forcing the calendar function on us for setting meeting times, etc. It's annoying. However, it's somewhat tolerable now since I'm working on Windows instead of Unix like on my previous project. I didn't like to have to keep a separate Windows machine just for company email. Oh wait, you were talking about politics ...

Man, if you thought he was cocky before, just think how he will be in this next administration.

Well I hope not. I hope he's going to take this opportunity to amend relations worldwide and in this country. I still have hope for the guy.

Re: Outlook 2004-2008

I'm concerned about the focus on morality screwing with priorities. In my state they were quick to pass the anti-gay marriage amendment but the same people weren't willing to place a cap on malpractice suits.

With the rest of the world, maybe. Realize that he's got North Korea on his agenda, as well as, Iran.

It would be economic suicide for this country to go after those countries in any way without world support. And the world is wary (sp?).

But within this great land, fugetaboutit (sp?). He's got a mandate of sorts. Sure it was close vote, but he's got Republican power, now, on his side. And they will team up to use it.

Say "bye, bye!" Roe v. Wade.

The Republicans across middle America put him and their congressmen in there, and now they've got to produce, legislatively.
