Re: My Sassy Girl 2 - Windstruck

Windstruck is NOT a prequel to MSG - the director just threw in some connections to appeal to MSG's built in audience.

Here are some films along the same lines.

"My Girl and I"

"My Scary Girl" (aka "My Sweet, Yet Brutal Sweetheart")

"My Boyfriend Is Type-B"

The 1st one is probably the most like Windstruck/MSG - romantic comedy/melodram, the 2nd film is more of a dark, understated and yet very funny humor (probably the best of the 3 films) and the last is just mindless light fun.

Re: My Sassy Girl 2 - Windstruck

Without the connections to My Sassy Girl, I don't know if this movie would have been as succesful. For me, that final scene was the best part of the movie. I heard Hollywood has also bought the rights to this movie as well but they'll probably wait to see how My Sassy Girl remake does first. But, I don't see how a remake could recapture the magic of the last scene. You'd need MSG remake to be a blockbuster and capture the audience's heart, get the same actor and actress to reprise their roles for that scene, etc..

In MSG, the guy, who's still in college, makes a big deal that she treats him so informally even though she's younger than him. If she ended up becoming a police officer and doing that for several years before retiring, she would have then been older than the guy.

so he was in college. i don't remember them mentioning how old he was. plus i think they mentioned he had already done his mandatory duty to the South Korean army.

In Windstruck, JJH's character remained a cop (and actually got promoted to detective) after her bf got killed (for at least a while).

In MSG, JJH's character has been a student for a while when her bf died.

Plus, in MSG, neither she nor her parents ever made mention of her dead twin.

The thing in MSG that didn't make sense for me (yeah, I tend to analyze things) - wouldn't CTH's character have gone to his cousin's funeral (where he would've met JJH's character) or been upset about the same time over his cousin's death?

Seriously? I thought Windstruck was awful, a good example of how bad movies can be without decent writing. And bringing in the actor from My Sassy Girl at the end seemed like a cheap shot at trying to turn around the audience from an otherwise depressing but pointless ending.
