Re: the clinton speech tonight

why not bend the rules a bit and allow ex-presidents to serve more than 2 terms, but just limit how many consecutive terms they serve? like only allow 2 consecutive terms, then he can't run the next race, then the floors open again.

this is clinton's idea, btw. :) :)

he can run for VP I think, but he just cant be elected more than two times to the Presidency. I think. Johnson for example could have been elected to a second term but didnt run (he was pres after Kennedy, then was elected, but could have been reelected) so if Bill were to run as VP, and he and his Pres won, and the Pres got shot/sick/w/e, he could be president again, because he wasnt elected...I think.

Re: the clinton speech tonight

See, Clinton was the only fun president, aside from Kennedy. You have to know how to deal with international issues, AND still maintain a sense of the everyman.

Re: the clinton speech tonight

actually, i believe the idea is that there's some interpretation open to the idea of how long a president can serve, but many have argued that vp is still elected office since you're campaigning with the presidential candidate. i read an interview in which clinton said that, as far as constitutional law goes, it's not explicitly stated, but he wouldn't accept running for VP because it goes against the core beliefs of his interpretation of the constitution.
