PDF Converter Software

Just checking to see what folks recommend for programs that convert Word documents to PDF. I checked Cnet & Download.com and all the programs seemed less than desirable stuff.

I use openoffice, it does the job for converting word to PDF files.

Ghostscript. It is a Postscript display program primarily. If you are not familiar with PS, it is a printing standard. With Ghostscript, you can have Word to print to a virtual Ghostscript printer, which acts as a PS printer, which then converts to PDF. The official Acrobat PDFPrinter works the same way. It's also free -- there are two versions, one under a GNU GPL license, and another under a custom BSD-ish license.

Oh, NOW you people tell me. Adobe Acrobat is a pain and it's a memory hog to boot.

i agree w/ >:^| that's why i'm using pdf995 on my slower laptop...

but i have acrobat installed on my desktop in case i need to pdf a chinese document

i use adobe acrobat, mainly because i convert all my pdfs at the library. i don't have a software at home.
