Got on in the palm of my hand.

Re: How do you remove a splinter?

If it's still sticking out part way just use some twizzers and yank it out.

Re: How do you remove a splinter?

Tried the tweezers. It's under the skin.

We tried using a thin sewing needle, yesterday, and after digging a trench in my palm, you'd think it was plucked.

Nope. Still there.

Re: How do you remove a splinter?

Fundamental First Aid!

Sterilize a needle, and dig the sucker out you sissy! If it's not particularly deep, just wash your hands and get on with your life. If the puncture is pretty fleshy, cleanse with an antiseptic, then apply an antibiotic ointment and bandage.

Recently, I suffered from a very deep gash in my fingertip. I was bleeding a lot and ran to a sink to wash the wound. It wouldn't stop bleeding, so I just applied a big glob of Neosporin to the wound and it acted like a sealant. Then I just wrapped it up in gauze. Two weeks later, the wound has been closed (for well over a week actually), but it still hurts a little. Hopefully I won't need to have it amputated. If I do, disregard my advice on the splinter.

I love the name of the filename for the url -- chinwarswor.html.

Puh. Too cheap to afford a "d" at the end.

Once I had a dime sized piece of metal stuck in my hand.

I tried to pull apart the skin to dig out the metal, but couldn't.

Re: How do you remove a splinter?

use a credit card, find out how it got in and push it out. avoid digging at it with a needle.

Re: How do you remove a splinter?

I've always used needles meself. I'm too chicken so sometimes I get someone else to do it. It's better than letting it stay there. I once had a splinter so deep I swear it went all the way to the bone.

Hope you didn't try that, because it sounds like you could get the glue into the wound.

I think I'm going with the needle, because this link says so:
