**Recent Event(s)/Update**

NorCal Regional Student Organizing Meeting this past Sunday, April 4th, 2004 @ UC Berkeley**

Students organizers from UC Berkeley, UC Davis, San Francisco State University, San Francisco Community College, and members from other organizations came together to discuss what is happening on their campuses or in their region regarding the proposed budget cuts to Higher Education.

The outcomes of the meeting were:

- Campus Networking

- Signed onto University & Neighborhood Learning & Outreach Coalition's (UNLOC) List of Demands

- Coordinated Actions: tentative Statewide Campus Days of Action: April 26th, 29th, & May 5th.

- Next Regional Meeting/Conference call TBA.

**Announcements**

Employment Opportunity -- Become an API Union Organizer! The Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance and the AFL-CIO is conducting a Training especially for Asian American and Pacific Islander workers and potential organizers. April 23-25, Oakland CA – Housing and Food Provided. This training is the first step in the Organizing Institute's job training and placement program, which leads to full-time jobs in union organizing



Participants must be able to travel, relocate and work long and irregular hours. Women, people of color and bilingual students are strongly encouraged to apply.
