Mortal Kombat - The History

Remember when this game came out? That was the first game my mother actually forbade me to buy for my Genesis, due to all that hoopla over the subject matter. And surprisingly, it's still going strong, even if some of the newer games have sucked.

Mortal Kombat 1(the beginning)

Mortal Kombat 2 (the best in the series)

Mortal Kombat 3 (not my favorite...babality, friendship, animality...jesus )

Mortal Kombat 4 (3-D....but it was horrible, I tells ya)

Mortal Kombat: Dark Alliance (this one was a little bit better, but no Liu Kang, dammit)

And soon to be released...Mortal Kombat: Deception(have yet to play or see a demo, but graphics wise, not too shabby...it's online, and they may have a ninja turtle lawsuit on their hands as u can see )

Re: Mortal Kombat - The History

yeah, i remember playing mortal kombat on SNES way back in the days...1994.....[got a sound ass whopping....]

This game is a classic, no doubt about it.

Not to mention a movie made for it, too.

Re: Mortal Kombat - The History

Ahhh MK, the memories. I nearly failed my finals when MK2 came out. This was when fighting games were really popular and I used to spend all my time on that and SFII.

I used to actually read MK FanFic just because I loved the storyline so much.

Once MK3 came out I started falling out of love with the game. The 1st movie was good, but it teased me with the start of good fights that were interrupted just as they got good. The second movie just sucked.

The TV series had potential. I don't think that it ever lived up to that potential, but at times it was good.

The actors they use for the video games were the same ones from the TMNT movie. Liu Kang = Raphael.

Re: Mortal Kombat - The History

when it first came out, i was too much of a loyal Street Fighter 2 fan to play MK. but i have to admit that after playing a little, i did like it a lot. my favourite character is Raiden. he's not the best though, but i like his character concept.

i still like the Street Fighter series better though. but now i like the Soul Calibre series the best.

Re: Mortal Kombat - The History

Yea you gotta have Liu Kang in there (or Subzero) otherwise it's not really a MK game ^^ Liu Kang to MK is like what Ryu was to Street Fighter.

Re: Mortal Kombat - The History

so when this game first came out, in junior high. (MK I) there would be this girl down the street who had it. she was like the only vietnamese girl that i knew and i had the hots for her back in the day. i would go over and play it at her parent's place. i got to hang with a cute girl + video games. life doesn't get much better than that. :D

it never occured to me that the other way around was possible

My favorite character was Johnny Cage. Loved the shadow kick and the fireball.

Don't forget the splits punch, where he drops down and slugs the unfortunate guy in his nads. It was amusing too cause you couldn't do it on the female characters, haha.

That's right! That was an awesome move and I loved the how the males would hold their nuts and cry out in pain. Think of the fatality that they could have made out of that.
