Re: U.S. 2050: Asian & Latino Population to Triple

while the asian numbers are important, the hispanic numbers are misleading cuz a lot of hispanics ARE functionally white. no one can tell the difference so they wouldn't face the same problems that other recognizably hispanic ppl would. i think the last projection i saw that included hispanic whites as whites had the population of whites in 2050 to be around 70%. big whoopdedoo. =P

Re: U.S. 2050: Asian & Latino Population to Triple

Hmmm,

these projects are always inaccurate anyways, theres no way that one could predict the out come in 50 years time.

Maybe some one at the census bureau is trying to hint at something to the general American population.

Yeah, it assumes that trends in growth will continue at the same rate.

Whenever I read these articles, I always feel a little bit like the underlying theme is "Eek! We're going to be outnumbered!"

These predictions are seriously flawed in so many ways. Just imagine what predictions of U.S. demographics would be at 1950 for the year 2000.

I thought the modis operandi for the American media was the culture of hate.

There is so much that could happen between now and then that could drastically affect population trends in any or all groupings, I don't know where to begin.

Anyway, seems a bit daft that a government department is modelling population figures that far ahead at the same time that central government continues to do nothing about matters like global climate change (the US pulled out of the Kyoto Protocol and shat on the 178 countries who agreed to sign the Bonn climate agreement - thanks guys).

Of course, there might not any Americans by 2050 ...

But mostly fear, because hate comes from irrational fear.

Hmm.. kinda disconcerting that Asians (if these predictions are even close to accurate) are still only gonna make up 8% of the American population by the time I'm 70.

Also, does anyone know if this number includes or excludes Eurasian Americans? Are they considered Asian or White?

Re: U.S. 2050: Asian & Latino Population to Triple

I think the Eurasian population are so small (at this moment) that they don't have much of an impact upon the overall percentage.

By 2050, there will probably be only Americans left in this world. Everyone else and their respective countries would have been thermal-bomed up the asses.

Poor Vietnam, farewell to thee in advance =(
