Please help liberate Burma from its military regime.

I know this may not pertain to Asian Americans directly but I need to get the word out. Please do not think of the Burmese as just the Burmese but rather your fellow men and women.

If you know anything about Burma, you have probably heard the name Aung San Suu Kyi.

During the 1960's, Burma was heralded as the rice bowl of Asia. However, that was before a ruthless dictatorship overthrew the democratic Burma and turned the country to an oppressive state.

during 1988, Aung San Suu Kyi won the national elections by a landslide for a democratic Burma. However, the military regime wanted to retain their power and disregarded the wishes of over 50 million Burmese.

The military shot monks, students and others for peaceful protests. They also ransacked hospitals for the bodies of the wounded and dead...and when the doctors and nurses protested...the military shot them as well.

Since then the Military has shut down universities, thus neglecting the futures of many Burmese for the sake of a few dictators. As a result of shotty and selfish leadership, Burma is spiraled down onto one of the World's least developed countries. Inflation runs rampant, and so does poverty. Kids as little as 5 years old must work to support their family. Women are forced into prostitution. Even people are forced into slavery. Corruption is ripe.

Please use your liberty to promote their's.

some more links if you want to read.

more about Aung San Suu Kyi

please do not take your rights and liberty for granted. Because others all across the world would literally give their right arms just to have the freedoms you enjoy right now.

Hopefully, campaigns as such will prevail throughout China, Africa and other places needing to rid of oppressive governments.
