Confirmed Ghost Sighting: Is it a Hoax?

LONDON, England -- A ghostly image has been caught on camera at Hampton Court Palace near London, a home of King Henry VIII, long reported to be haunted.

The 16th Century palace is well known for alleged supernatural activity, but nothing suspicious has been caught on film before.

However, in October this year, a curious image was discovered on the palace's closed-circuit television footage.

On several occasions security guards were alerted to an open fire door in an exhibition area of the palace.

After securing the door each time, they returned to their office to view the CCTV footage to see who had opened them.

On the first occasion the footage showed the doors flying wide open, but no evidence of why they had.

On the second, the guards were stunned when a ghostly figure in period dress suddenly appeared on the screen and closed the doors.

The same thing happened on a third day, but again no figure appeared.

Stranger still was that a visitor had noted in the palace's visitor book that she thought she had seen a ghost in that area.

One of the palace's "custody warders" (security guards) told the UK Press Association: "I was shocked when the CCTV footage showed an eerie figure in period dress in the doorway. It was incredibly spooky because the face just didn't look human.

"My first reaction was that someone was having a laugh, so I asked my colleagues to take a look. We spoke to our costumed guides but they don't own a costume like that worn by the figure. It is actually quite unnerving!"

The palace, with its 500 years of history, has seen many dramatic royal events from the death of Henry's third wife, Jane Seymour, to the condemnation and house arrest of his fifth, Catherine Howard, for adultery.

Over the centuries staff, visitors, workmen and residents have experienced strange phenomena for which there is often no practical explanation.

One area of the palace has been named the Haunted Gallery. It is here that people claim to have seen the ghost of Catherine Howard, and heard her uttering terrible cries.

when i saw it on t.v. it was a video image so i actually saw what the ghost did.

Unless it is proven to be a hoax, i'll believe it.

It looked so real. I was skeptical but as that guy said, "it is actually quite unnerving" and it is.

CNN reported it as the first actual proof of a ghost sighting that isn't a hoax.

Re: Confirmed Ghost Sighting: Is it a Hoax?

Wow...I think I'd be traumatized if I saw it on TV.

So do you believe in ghosts?

I, for one, like my mother, do not truly believe in many things unless we experience or see it with our own true eyes. (O_O) But I just can't help but wonder why there are so many stories about ghosts and haunted houses. Some part of me might actually think it's possible that there is the non-living living in the world of the living. I would just like to think that they're friendly-casper-like ghosts.

Anyone experience/see anything out of the ordinary in their life? *all ears*

Re: Confirmed Ghost Sighting: Is it a Hoax?

^^i'm like you. i have to see it with my own eyes. that's why i'm somewhat skeptical. But the way they reported it and how real it looked. The only other explanation is computer animation but wouldn't the tape be examined before being sent to CNN? It is only a surveillance tape. That's what makes it different.

What? What do you mean by that? I'm scurred!!!!

I played with the Ouija board when I was a kid. After I heard that it gives you bad luck (don't know if that's just a myth), I stopped. It was freaky now that I really think about it. When my sister and I played it, Eros (I guess he would be the Greek God of Love) would always come through and communicate with us. After awhile, we got so comfortable with him that we would just ask for him everytime we played. It was so weird how we asked where in the room he was and he'd say he's sitting right next to me eating our Cheetos. LOL OMG! I can't believe I participated so many times in this unexplainable experience especially since I'm such a wuss!

old people are the meanest!

the ones that freak me out the worst are the ones that die on the table during an emergency surgical procedure. cuz you don't know the patient, haven't built up a repetoire with them, you're going on raw instinct on everything you've learned up to now plus you're throwing in the kitchen sink. hoping that everything will come together somehow and hoping you don't fuck up somewhere.

even if you did your best and they died, man they'll be one bitter and pissed off apparition coming back to haunt your ass.

I do not like ghosts. Now I will eat pie until I feel safe again.
