Re: Where Do You Want to Live?

NYC is just horrible, overcrowded, congusted, blah! Not for me, someone mention Hawaii, thats a good idea, probably be too much of a party for me. I don't think I can ever live some place thats not next to the ocean or some large body of water.

I heard Seattle and Vanocover are built on a side of a mountain, so you have awesome views of the ocean no matter where you are, and the beach is right next to the city so in the summer everybody is just chillin in the beach. That just sounds so freakin chill.

I can't really complain about where I live thou, it's close to the city, diverse, great public transportation, next to all these schools and historical landmarks, and close to hospitals, but 20 years is enough.

North Vancouver is built on the side of a mountain while most of the Lower Mainland is more or less even. For spectacular views you have to live in North Van or at the UBC Endowment Lands. But one can also argue that no matter where you live, Vancouver's still great.

You're referring only to the south bay? Hmm, well, having grown up in sf, I'm kind of tired of the crowded feeling of it, the chaos. I like having some general space. I like easily finding parking spaces, since I'm a bit of a roadrager. I like to drive. If I'm to stay in the bay area, I'd like to live in a more suburban area but within reasonable driving distance to the city. There is definitely more to do in sf, more culture and diversity, and now that I'm in my 20's, I'm taking advantage of that. And I chose the south bay (possibly the peninsula too), because I'm most familiar with that area (outside of sf) because my brother has lived there for almost 15 years.

i see. i guess the south bay is more appealing if you're actually from the bay area. i'm from the east bay - walnut creek area. i guess it's kinda like south bay...minus all the asians and other minorities.

That's one place I've never been, but don't think I could ever live: Boston and New England in general. I don't know why, but I always got the impression that people up there are generally snobby and maybe even a bit pretentious. Too stiff, too upper-crust for me.
Boston is ok. I'm up there alot on business. It's....boring as hell tho. At least for me, I dunno the good bars, clubs, or lounges to hit. And shit closes down so early. Hehe, the accent bothers me a little too...

hows the cost of living up there? Like, 2 bedroom condo, 1Br, nice view, ~1200 sq feet w/close to city (~5 miles)?

My friend visited it once and he kept on raving about how awesome it was...

anyhow, we have better malls than you guys.

Landsdown street is probably the only real place to party in Boston in weekends and at night. A whole street filled with clubs and bars. Teh Eurotrash's place to be. All the Asians go to Avalon and Embassy, but every Asian seem to know every other Asian (Boston Universty kids ). This is right next to Newbury Street and awesome in the summer. People just chillin into the wee hours in the morning w/plenty action going around.

Then there's another place is next to Fancuil Hall, the North Ends, over w/ Italian bars and great food, I forgot the name of the place, but when you order a slice of pizza it's really two slices w/soda it's only like $3. Mike's Pastry is awesome too, the waiting line goes out the door. It's right next to the ocean and really pretty at night.

Then there's comedy clubs and bars in Harvard Square (*lots of bums here), coffee shops with people just chillin. House of Blues here is fucken sweet, good fucken food w/live entertainment. Everyplace in Boston seems to be cartered toward people with loot thou and it gets pretty pricey.

During the summer time you can always find me next to the Charles River blazing on the jogging and skating path overlooking Harvard and MIT and the whole skyline of Boston.

Um...hello!?! Valley Fair. Santana Row. And the Great Mall is relatively great, for what it is. (And then we have a bunch of scrubby crap like Westgate, Sunnyvale Town Center, Vallco, etc.)

Anyway, while I wouldn't evaluate a metropolitan area's radness based on malls, Valley Fair kicks everyone's ass.

Naw. I'm not nearly so partisan.

That said, we have two Ranch 99 centers and the massive profusion of Korean and Indian places along El Camino. And the massive collection of Vietnamese places on the Eastside.

i'm going to start a mall thread. valley fair so doesn't kick ass. i used to work at macy's and the people who picked up the phones at valley fair were ghet-to.
