Law school, medical school........

Are this typical paths for asian americans . we can even throw in Ph.d schools since almost 35% of physical science Ph.ds come from Asia. When would this trend slow down

Isn't there the stereotypes that sorta lump us into these fields where film, entertainment, sports should get more exposure for providing a better rep of asians? Oh even business would be good but there are those glass ceilings in Corp White America

true. but you know, the industries that you named - film, sports, etc. - they're just difficult industries to break into in general. re: large corporations - i agree that we need to have more asians in higher level positions. however, i wouldn't say that it's because asians don't strive to be in them. the glass ceilings just keep them from achieving their goals.

well, when i was in hs, it seemed pre-med was by FAR the most popular field, then pre-business, then pre-law. academia was probably dead last.

Anyways, aren't Asian American lawyers or law students actually *underrepresented*? I heard that somewhere in college but i haven't seen stats on that.

Sports has no limit on us, Kasia. If you are good it doesn't matter. It sure must be culture for asians to go into these fields of proff careers. With sports like basketball, tennis, golf, etc....have no limits on race

not on race, per se. but it's just generally difficult to become a professional player is what i meant.

The more asians/ AAs get into sports the better chances to see a familar face on courts or golf course. I waiting for next asian NBA guard to show up. Plus sports should be pursued as long as acaemics are still there as a backup.
