What's the most vital fantasy bball position?
Just curious to hear what you guys think is the most important position. In football it's without question a great RB. In baseball...up for grabs I guess.

Re: What's the most vital fantasy bball position?
i'm gonna say its between PG and C ... with a slight edge to the PG. Depends on the point value of the stats. But I get the impressiopn that the C position is almost getting phased out with traditional PFs taking over that role. But in general it just seems there's alot more good PFs and Cs (Shaq, Duncan, Garnet, Nowitski, Ben Wallace, J ONeal, and maybe Yao some day) than there are PGs who fulfill the traditional PG role (handing out assists). And the only guys left who really do that is Kidd, Nash, Marbury, and Payton, Baron)

Re: What's the most vital fantasy bball position?
prolly won't play that much of a factor than the RB in fantasy football. but ideally, i like to snag the franchise well rounded players first that'll yield me points in as many categories as possible.
when i draft my team, i pick the starting five in each position i would want. ideally, i would start with the "new wave" of prototypical power fowards or small fowards like duncan, garnett, dirk. then a guard that fits the point guard and shooting guard role like steve francis or a kobe bryant or allen iverson, tracy mcgrady and baron davis of this year. then i'll snag my center usually i'll get a jermaine o'neal by the third round since duncan, dirk fits the FC slot and shaq is prolly gone by now. so i guess a foward in either SF or PF slot. |

IMO, center. there aren't that many great centers to go around, especially if you have a big league.

Re: What's the most vital fantasy bball position?
point guard. centers give you rebounds, fg%, pts. pg's give you assists, which is something very, very hard to get seeing how no one else reallys passes the ball..

Re: What's the most vital fantasy bball position?
Wouldn't it be someone who scores a lot compared to the players at his position?
Like, a powerhitting SS is worth more than an OF who is on the same offensive level. |

Well, then it depends on slots too. I'd totally kick your ass every week if I stockpiled great fantasy kickers and you stockpiled RBs if we allowed 4 slots for kickers. Haha, I'm being a smartass. I chose point guard however. I don't know much about Basketball honestly, and I am under the impression that Centers score a lot, and PGs *usually* don't. Only great ones like Kobe and MJ do. This assumption comes from watching Maryland college basketball during the Championship year, when Steve Blake was the pointguard. Lonny Baxter and Chris Wilcox did most of the scoring. I could be totally wrong! Anyway I think RB is the dominant position in fantasy football mainly because teams *usually* hand off to the same guy all the time, while they usually have 3 or 4 guys to pass to. Basketball is a lot more spread out. |

Re: What's the most vital fantasy bball position?
i think that there are big time scorers in every position... but the money comes from finding guys that either produce huge numbers in a couple of categories (i.e. shaq in points and rebounds) or guys that produce in a wide variety of positions (i.e. baron davis with points, 3pts made, assists and steals).
