Forced to check one race box on ATF form 4473

Me at the gun show:

Me: Do you accept credit cards
Dealer: Gladly
Me: Okay, I'll pick up this AK-74 from you
Dealer: Okay, come around and fill out the paperwork
[I go behind the table to fill out paper work checks the White and Asian boxes under race]
Dealer: Uhhh, you checked two boxes which is it White or Asian.
Me: I'm half White half Asian
Dealer: If you check two, it throws the ATF in a loop
Me: I've filled out this form many times (9 times to be exact) and have always checked both boxes and I've had a problems
Dealer: Dude it's the government, they bitch about everything. Just like how you have to write out your state of residence.
Me: Fine we'll go with the one drop rule, put Asian
Dealer: okay

I was thoroughly annoyed by this encounter.

I am amazed this is still even a question on any federal paperwork, makes me wonder if they keep a graph or record of race/firearm ownership and where.

The funny thing is that the form doesn't say "Check one" it says "Check all that apply" so I was correct to check both boxes.

I would think that they want you to check a box, so that if they ever find the gun at the scene of a crime, they'll know the basic physical description of what they're looking for.

Nah, the FFL was just a dumbass, you NEVER know what you're going to get when filling out a 4473.
