Well, in a lot of ways, Indians have more in common with Europeans than Eastern Asians in terms of language and genetics. Until about twenty or thirty years ago, the US government had classified Indians as part of the Caucasian group until Indian businessmen had lobbied a change for that so they could get favorable loans and contracts that had been set aside for minorities.

I just came across it, today, as I was searching for British air museum video. This interview was in a collection of sample videos that popped up before I could get the search engine to work for me. It was tagged with "Melissa Therriault" (sp?), the glamorous French newscaster.

But it should've been tagged anggun. She's the face on the video still and the person being interviewed. I didn't realize she speaks French. Haven't heard about her in many years. I happen to have 1 or 2 of her CDs. Her background is that she's Indonesian and she sings rock-styled songs.

It's interesting to contrast her looks with that of Therriault. I wish I knew some French. It seems that she's trying to answer a question about islamic society.

just glancing at the names from the link above, the list is, as usual, heavily American-centric, with a healthy dose of names that could be considered "break out stars" in American media in the past year.

What did Rain do to become a 'break out star' for the American media? He sold out some concerts, but I don't think it was White America that was buying those seats.

I predict next year that Jeon Ji Hyun will make the list since she's got her first Hollywood movie coming up, Blood: The Last Vampire.
