I had Jury Duty Today…
Today was actually very interesting. I woke up @ 7:00am and was at the courthouse by 8:00am. I didn’t think that I would be selected to become a juror, but as it turns out EVERYONE was needed for the various trials and such.
The trial moved quickly. The defendant (Hispanic 25yrs old) chose to represent himself (I don’t know why). The prosecutor was a really cute Korean girl, (if I wasn’t attracted to guys I’d probably ask her out on a date.) She did a great job. I usually see things from the defendant’s point-of-view, but it was clearly obvious that this young man assaulted a family member with a deadly weapon. His two sisters came to court and totally lied under oath. I’m sure they just wanted to protect their brother, and didn’t want to see him go to jail. Anywho I got to listen to the 911 calls and read the transcripts from said calls. It was all very interesting. The prosecutor has one more witness (the cop) who won’t be able to make it to court until Monday. The judge released us until then…I have never been interested in law until today. To think - I was not looking forward to this jury duty! On a sad note tho’ – even tho’ I know that this man is guilty of the crimes he committed I was sad to hear his sister talk about his childhood. They grew up in poverty, and the parents were always gone. It made me think that if my parents were never there for me while I was growing up – I could have easily ended up like this guy… Sad, but true… I should probably be thankful that my parents were always around. |

Re: I had Jury Duty Today…
Just did mine in downtown LA. Talk about the biggest waste of time for only $15 starting the 2nd day. Feh, at least I got excused during selection. The judge was a fucking prick too with a smart ass mouth.

Re: I had Jury Duty Today…
I got a summon today too. I'm G-405 or something, But its on a thursday. I'm not sure how the group order is, but isn't G-1 always go first and if they finish with the next and the next, then I go? Cuz if I let the summon untouch, I could get 12 months free and if I postpone it cuz of school, then I only get 6month.
