anybody ever ace the interview and beat out many other applicants for one position
i did just that. i found the ad on the internet and i fucking rocked the 2 stage interview. I walked in there like i was the man, confident that i could do anything and i was above this job. worked pretty good.

Re: anybody ever ace the interview and beat out many other applicants for one position
Yup. It was against other IS analysts too so the competition was rough. It was my CISSP that clinched it and I remember being smug about the whole affair throughout the day for having beat out older applicants.

Re: anybody ever ace the interview and beat out many other applicants for one position
questions?
1. where is a time when there was a problem and you solved it? 2. what's your greatest accomplishment? 3. what type of environment do you like to work in? 4. what attracted you to this company? don't mention anything negative unless you can take the chance that sympathy may help. don't bad mouth previous employers. Give the impression that your present employer would hate to see you leave. if they have a website, always visit it first and compliment them on how professional it looks. it'll give you something to talk about. give the impression you can do anything. at least if you get the job, you can quickly learn what is req'd if you ask the right people at the right places. a little exaggerating is ok. be as animated and talk as much as possible. just take over and ask them questions too like who their competition is, and what your duties would be etc. Like you are genuinely concerned about your well being at this new company, not just a desperate job seeker wanting to take any job that comes your way even though you may be in that position. Try not to seem to nervous and remain calm. ultimately, you have to be a person they like though, so don't be too discouraged, alot of the time, the chemistry just might not be right. always mention that you can work independently and in a team environment. i'll add more later...i'm slacking off too much right now. |
