mac book won't turn on

this problem just started happening yesterday, it would just show a light gray screen with a folder, and a question mark on it, blinking. i tried formatting the notebook, and when it comes to the 3rd step it says select a drive, and there isn't anything to select, i would go to disk utility and erase the drive, and than a drive would appear and then i can proceed with the 4th step, as it's uninstalling it says there's a error with the volume, and restart the notebook, i am at a dead end, on what to do to the notebook, if anyone can help me on what to do or what to replace would help alot, Thanks

Re: mac book won't turn on

This sounds like a hardware problem. It very well could be the hard drives or some other component of the mac book itself. How old is the mac book? You may be able to get a replacement from Apple according to their policies on warranties.

I'm an amateur PC guy but I seen this happen before on lots of LTs. On PCs windows only going in dos or safe modes, not going past the manufacturer's screen and nonsense like that.

. . . . . Replace the HDs and problem solved, but if you didn't do backups your info is gone. And no it's not a software problem if you do a restore and you get the same results even with different restore disks and custom software.

Unfortunately sometimes we get lemons.
