White Ribbon Campaign
About WRC: What is the White Ribbon Campaign (WRC)? The WRC is the largest effort in the world of men working to end men's violence against women. It relies on volunteer support and financial contributions from individuals and organizations. How did the WRC get started? In 1991, a handful of men in Canada decided we had a responsibility to urge men to speak out against violence against women. We decided that wearing a white ribbon would be a symbol of men's opposition to men's violence against women. After only six weeks preparation, as many as one hundred thousand men across Canada wore a white ribbon. Many others were drawn into discussion and debate on the issue of men's violence. Goals and Focus: What does it mean to wear a white ribbon? Wearing a white ribbon is a personal pledge never to commit, condone nor remain silent about violence against women. Each year, we urge men and boys to wear a ribbon for one or two weeks, starting on November 25, theInternational Day for the Eradication of Violence Against Women. (In Canada we wear ribbons until December 6, Canada's National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.) |

When I saw WRC I instantly thought of World Rally Championships, but since this was in the MEN thread I knew it couldn't have been it.
If those Canadians would stop beating their women then they wouldn't have to put on this campaign every year.

wow you guys are brutal.
give her a chance. wife beating is never funny. ok, it's only funny when i joke about it or if you're canadian. i think the timing is off cuz it coincides with breast cancer awareness month. i'm wearing a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness month on my white coat at work. there's no way i'm gonna add a white ribbon. people would 1)think i'm getting in touch with my feminine side and/or 2)work for TGI Fridays. |
