49ers Send Owens To Ravens

The 49ers have completed a trade with the Baltimore Ravens that will send wide receiver Terrell Owens to the Ravens in exchange for their second round (51st overall) selection in the upcoming draft.

"We are delighted to have this trade consummated with Baltimore," Terry Donahue said. "Ozzie Newsome had the most genuine, keen interest in Terrell and he knew what he wanted to do. He made us a very fair deal."

Owens played eight seasons (1996-2003) for San Francisco and registered 592 receptions for 8,572 yards and 81 touchdowns.

"We talked to roughly half the league about trading for Terrell and frankly Baltimore had the best offer out there. The other offers were either for players who weren't the caliber we were interested in, or they were for late round picks," Donahue said.

By adding the second round pick, the 49ers now have three picks in the first 51 selections in the 2004 draft, the most in the NFL (Denver has three in the first 55), and four on the first day. San Francisco now has eight picks in the draft April 24-25.

Could've been an all-time great if it wasn't for his piss-poor attitude and the negative effect he had on the team as a whole. Glad to be rid of his sorry ass.

this is so stupid tho!!! a 51st pick? from what i heard, TO was challenging the entire free agency thing and then SF would have gotten a compensation 1st round pick

Conspiracy? His agent fucked up, that's all there is to it. And TO has the audacity to blame his agent's screwup on the Niners saying that they shouldn't take advantage of the mistake. Right, as if TO would have not taken advantage in a similar situation where the team fucked up.

The Niners lucked out. They got a 2nd rounder when they should have received nothing at all.

And hell...I like TO as a player and wish the Eagles could've gotten him...at least they got Kearse.
