here (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=17104&highlight=) is where he posted it at.

here's (http://home.tampabay.rr.com/malakai/files/Unofficial-MozillaFirebird-i686_07-25_O1-G6.zip) a direct link that you will need to right click and DL, or copy and paste the url into the address bar. oh yeah, not linux capable as far as i know.

btw, for people who don't know the difference between an athlon and a p4, do not dl this unless you want it to load slower than what you're probably using.

Looks interesting. I will try it out.

It would have to be compiled for Linux to work on it as far as I know.

try it out, side by side comparison of it was pretty shocking. go to a website you've never been to, watch both load. then revist the site and still fb will beat ie.

when i say athlon, i mean athlon xp, but the old tbird athlons should be ok as well i believe he said. those of you using durons may be sol.

btw, no it doesn't need to be run in linux.

what installer? you just click the .exe. just drop the whole folder into programs. or unzip it to programs. then enter the folder, make a shortcut of the .exe on the desktop and you're ready to go. all an installer really does is put it into programs and then maybe do a reg key or two and then ask you if you want to launch the file. installer's are a waste of time and space for a file.

if you have any problems after clicking the .exe such as missing XXX.dll, just go to www.dll-files.com

if you're running winxp you probably will only need two dll's which i'll include here. one person needed a 3rd dll which i'll also list. go ahead and get all 3 if you feel like it.

1. MSvcp70.dll (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcp70)

2. MSvcr70.dll (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr70)

3. MSvcrt.dll (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcrt)

and be sure to put these into the mozilla firebird folder where the other dll files and program files for it are.

for the record and those that might not have investigated themselves

this is your basic run of mozilla firebird with athlon (and athlon xp) optimizations. it has an integrated pop up killer that you can try and teach if you want, or just let it kill all annoying popups.

it also uses tabbed browsing to streamline not needing so many browser windows open.

it's not memory hungry for those of you pushing it at 128mb of ram and those stressing their 256mb if you use an integrated video, or memory stressful programs.

==============

if you need any additional help, im me at any of my im sn's listed, or leave a post here and i'll get back to you asap. =)

That is what I was afraid of. I hate getting those little libraries to get the program to run. You have no idea how many you need til it stops asking.

I'm up for this program because I want the speed. The features will probably be the same as Net-scrape 7.X since it's almost the same program.

Damn. The file is now gone.

if you want it, hit me up on aim. i'll just give you the dll's you need and the files.

or you could dig it out of your recycle bin and dl the dll's i posted with direct links. i think your definition of minilibraries is beyond overboard for 2-3 dll files.

There looks to be a new compile. I will check that out. Thanks!

np, yeah i was gonna list that, he sent me the link around 3 but i was getting tired. sorry. he fixed a few bugs that he noticed for his new compile. hope you enjoy, and if for some reason you don't know how to neuter explorer and other window default stuff:

if you own xp or xp sp1, then go to start -> all programs -> set program access and defaults (near top), then select non-microsoft, click next, check custom and kill off ie and any other windows related crap like outlook =) (i enjoyed that one the most).

Wow. This Mozilla build is fast. It's a bit buggy but it's really fast. I like how the tabbed browsing is controlled with Ctrl+tab instead of the stupid Ctrl+pageup/pagedown. I still need to install SP1 but I need to change to my legit license first.

I also like how the dynamic linked libraries were already in there since I'm kinda lazy when it comes to these things. I do enough of this type of stuff at work.

=)

the bugs are actually just people realizing parts of the trunk they didn't know got changed, were changed. they've begun to recode already =). keep in mind, all this is still just beta, and you get the baskin robbins treatment by just selecting modded builds you like =). firebird whomps everything i've used before in ease of use, memory usage, actually useful features and a comfortable easy browsing.

check back, he's really into fixing it up and will continue to do so =). at the moment he's got me set to start beta'ing his new compile he'll be putting out in a few days. and the thing i love is all you have to do is replace just the old files with the newer ones, so updating the build takes less than 2 seconds of actual work to update.

still miss your installer?

No, I use the windows xp built-in unzipping and my computer is decently fast so it's good. Too bad the Mozilla 1st load still takes longer than IE. I recall Opera being really fast but very rough around the edges so I uninstalled it.

odd, my fb loads a little faster on the first time, then pwnz ie on the second.

=) np, i'll keep you updated. he's got it so that the themes work properly now, which the trunk had an error in. he's only got one error now, and is gleaning it off at the moment. it's a hella minor error, but he want's it bug free =) it's damn fast for me, i just wish i was on my dually =)
