as the list of comic book movies gets longer, i now hear a movie about dr. strange is in the works. the whole concept of this character strikes me as outdated and i wish it weren't being made. i don't wanna jump on this movie's case before its made, but man, they better update the characters and story a bit or even a lot.

i mean, the whole thing about strange getting his powers by simply studying a few years in the mysterious east (tibet was it?) is already not so great. and of course the knowledge is gained from some asian dude named the ancient one. add to that his faithful manservant wong that he comes back with, and the stereotype soup dish just gets bigger and bigger. i don't really see how they can make this thing unstereotypical w/o changing the origin story a lot, but here's to hoping.

Anything is possible. I thought that the Hulk would never fly, thinking of Bill Bixby in the back of my mind.

I'm still waiting for Iron Man!

I actually like Doctor Strange. I'm not sure if it'd make a good movie, but a good creator can make a classic story with the character. The title always allowed artists to stretch their chops and get really surreal.

I never thought about the stereotypes in the origin. Thanks a lot for ruining one of my favorite titles.

I know special effects have gotten a lot better, but I don't think they're anywhere close to doing what you'd have to do for a live-action movie to have the same feel. I didn't even think they got it quite right for Spider Man.

yeah i know. isn't life just simpler when u know less about the world?

the one thing i really want to see this movie do is to update wong's character and make him more independent. if they do that, i could put up with the other stuff. i don't just want to see another bruce lee/kato part.

You know, he could be Harry Potter's suragate father or something.

They could meet up with the Ancient One, who in reality could be Cho Chang's father.

yeah i'd like to see Iron Man, too. but i wonder what kinds of problems they can create for him to overcome. i mean he's rich, good looking, gets laid a lot, and can invent pretty much anything he sets his mind to. in the comic book he got a drinking problem. but that doesn't sound too exciting for a movie.

That'd be awesome. Then the Ancient One could give Cho to Harry as a present because all older Asian males don't value their daughters as people. Either that or the Ancient One goes crazy and tries to kill Strange and Potter and then Cho kills the guy to save their lives because she's in love with Harry.

I don't think Hollywood has ever done a movie where the Asian woman sacrifices her own flesh and blood for a white man/white men. Honest.

You know what else I've never seen? Asian people with thick accents in peril. That's what we need more of in Hollywood movies.
