favorite lube

since we got our anal bead thread, i thought i'd start one for lubrication.

-KY is the simplest, most basic kind that exists, is it not? it's clear and has no taste.

what's your favorite flavor lube? favorite brand?

K-Y tends to get sticky after a while and I would actually recommend other lubes before it. The best thing about K-Y is that it's water-solluble and widely available. Water-based lubes are great because of easy clean-up and it's oil-free (for condoms and sex toys). Most people would recommend AstroGlide over K-Y, but my personal recommendation is AquaLube. It does have a bit of taste to it, but its texture is like silk. (Edit) Forgot to add, if you can get your hands on medical grade K-Y, use that.

The other type of lube is silicone-based, and it stays slick much longer than water-based lubes. Best thing -- it stays slick in water, if you want to have fun in the shower, for instance. The downside is that it will damage condoms and sex toys (but it shouldn't affect metal anal beads) and leaves oily stains on most fabrics. If you're fluid-bonded or don't care about safe sex, by all means, go silicone; it sucks to have to reapply water-based lubes every 10-15 minutes when you're... fully engaged. My personal recommendation is Wet Platinum, which has the bonus that it's latex-safe (for condoms, but will still damage silicone-based toys). Some of my friends prefer Eros (also latex-safe).

As for flavored lubes, don't really deal with them too often, since they generally don't stay slick as long. Wet makes flavored lubes, which I've tasted mango and it's about as close as mango-flavored candy, but I still prefer natural flavors.

heh...i usually dont' but that stuff...kinda embarassing..i used to get free samples at the university health center....they had all kinds of free samples that were neat: strawberry, grape, even chocolate flavors! but, nowadays, we just use 'natural' (rather she) ways of lube............

For anal play? Definitely not. Keep in mind, vaginal juice is constantly produced, but if you take a dip then head for the back, it'll get you in, but it will get dry since the rectum doesn't produce any lubrication itself. You could go for redips but that's not a good idea since anal to vaginal is just begging for UTI or some other sort of infection.

Don't forget another good use for lube... handjobs and other types of non-orifice sex. Lube is also useful for vaginal play with large objects such as big toys, fists, etc..

Yeah, but it really doesn't FEEL any different. Sometimes when you're going at it for hours, the well runs dry.
