when i was a kid, these american kids would come to school
with their lunches in paper bags. i was so jealous. i wanted
those. i never went to school with a packed lunch. i always
bought my meals. all i wanted was a paper bag.

you know what...
you know how you go grocery shopping.. and you either have plastic or brown bags... well, theres this grocery store in my town that uses neither...
but you pack your groceries in these recycled cardboard boxes that was origionally used to pack all the foods in.. you know what i'm saying...
it makes sense... but its just an odd site...

it does make sense, and makes carrying stuff a lot easier i would imagine.
instead of like swinging around with three million bags you carry one or two boxes.
ooh. i like.

Paper bags are more practical. I'm an impractical and inefficient person, so I always choose plastic.

Ha ha I had to laugh at this topic. Talk about mindless chatter
But, to answer your question, I prefer plastic bags. Even though they hold less than paper bags, you can carry four or five of them at a time and overall it takes less time to get 'em all out the car.

when i start going grocery shopping on a regular basis, like in college, i think i'm gonna be environmental friendly, and have my groceries bagged in a big cloth bag.

Paper bags are usually bigger and more firm. Bigger firm things always rule over soft saggy things. Even if you u choose plastic, it's more practical to put that bag inside a paper bag.

i'm a big fan of paper in plastic. makes me feel confident that my items aren't gonna fall through the bag. and paper bags don't swing around as much as those plastic ones.

COSTCO does that. Go wholesale stores.
Either or is fine with me. I remember that I used to love paper bags, I used to write all over them and carry them around. And when I had plastic bags, I used to swing it around.

Plastic bags are more practical. Didn't you took the "how Asian are you test" thread? If you're an "Hella Asian", you use plastic bags as garbage bags.
I do that! And so do the rest of the people in my family. The only time we use garbage bags is when we clean up the backyard, we stuff all the branches and all that in there, or after a HUGE family dinner gathering.

I use paper inside of plastic. why do baggers ask for paper or plastic anyways? is it because some people are allergic to plastic?

Well, no, it's just preference. Like you see everyone here has different reasons for wanting either/or, so they want to satisfy their customers right down to the simple choice of paper/plastic. ;)
