That is the stereotype that we are too uptight, not prone to laughing out loud, being goofy and taking things way too seriously.
Case in point, I am a legend on other sites like Sherdog.com(though a deleted user) and Globalmma.com for being as obnoxious and even more so on those sites but because the majority on there are not Asian, they accept my humor.
What y'all think?
I believe being a class clown is not condoned in our society unlike other groups.

Shoot, I typed too fast again. The topic question is:
Are Asians way too serious?
My bad

Actually, the simple fact is that humor and sarcasm doesn't travel well thru the net. Either that or we find ur jokes rehashed and/or not funny. I'd also like to emphasize what an incredibly serious person I am, as everyone here can attest :D

In order to be a class clown... you need to be funny and charismatic.

how do you possibly generalise a whole race on whether it's serious or not?
impossible.

That's human nature P(that's me sticking out my tongue btw).
People generalize or stereotype races all the time.
asians are smart, blacks are great athletes, Polish are dumb, Italians are hairy, Irish are drunks, etc
People love to criticize the popular guys on this board.

kh, you make me proud to know that all white people such as myself are either, dumb, hairy, or drunks...well, scratch the first two...the third one is going good so far...

so...you're just going along with the stereotypes then?
so why do you even bother doing your statement-or-so-called
comedy routine, since you keep on yappin about rights. cuz
thus far, you haven't shown any sign of trying to break
sterotypes =), but rather justifying that stereotypes are
human nature, even though, i pretty much said that it's
impossible to generalise a whole race. =)

the sad thing is that i agree with KH says, it is a stereotype that we are seen as being serious....the sadder thing is that his point couldn't get across because of his past history of inane comments....

:D you havent gain anyone respect so far KH. Work on it a little bit more will you??
there are worse things than being too serious. i think the question of this topic is a generalization in itself. i'd rather be too serious than, say, annonying, hateful, egotistical, etc. :P

As bad as stereotyping is, I'd rather be seen as serious and taken seriously than trying so hard to be a goofball and to try break that stereotype and get slammed like KH.

please refrain from personal attacks...regardless of whether or not they are deserved. the karma police of this forum will take care of, as anne put it, overtly annoying/hateful/egotistical posts, so members need not waste their time in responding.

Asians are serious.
We're serious in education.
We're serious in health.
We're serious in family.
We're serious in morals.
We're serious in relationships.
We're serious in bed. (at least I am... hehehe)
but you can't generalize a whole race like Pip said. Shit, you can't even generalize chicken. KFC always has some new chicken out. So now we can't even say "this tastes just like chicken". DO YOU KNOW WHAT CHICKEN TASTES LIKE? There's crispy, hot, spicy, regular, original, southern, cajun, kun pau, mongolian...
Crack... if we can't even generalize food, how do you generalize race?
