I think if more than half of the people who vote in this poll vote "yes," this site has served its purpose.

I think it has. I mean, I'm a part of a group (and was a part of another group) that kind of touches bases about Asian issues. We haven't really been talking much about it lately, but since this summer, when I started with the program, and finding articles about YW and the whole petition against "Kung Fool," my eyes are opened a little wider and I'm more aware of things that go on in our community and our society as a whole. Other than that, YW has just been a cool place to be heard and look for advice.

I think YW has helped solidify my beliefs as it was good to know there were other asians around that thought in a similar fashion to myself. I did not expect this to happen as I had assumed most of the people on YW would have held views opposite to my more conservative stances, but it was reassuring to see others defend and share my beliefs.

YW has led me to realize that there are tons of Asians out there that disagree with me

Well, I have to admit that I was guilty of believing the stereotype that asians for the most part were apathetic towards racial issues, etc. but this site has certainly proved me wrong.

When I first stumbled upon this site via a link to the Kung Fool petition, I was comparatively ignorant of Asian-American social justice issues. Needless to say, that has changed. I think that is the major impact this site has had on me.

I have to also say that this board is probably the best in terms of presentation, maintenance, and moderating. I've looked at other boards and I was appalled by the threads which bordered on flat out hate speech against non-Asians. I have taken to respect what is posted on this board because the posters are all articulate and rational. On any other board, I would often wonder if the other kids were just 12 year olds with a modem.

It's nice to see other people growing up in the states, with an asian background and to know that other people go through and see the same things I do. This site has opened my eyes to a lot of new things and also helped me form opinions on topics I wouldn't normally have.

I realized that I can actually post whatever my thoughts are on this place, and have people agree/disagree/or be indifferent, but any which way, I get a response and some form of feedback.....I like that

It impacts me in that i feel like I am in school again with the teachers (Mods and Admins) telling me to play nice or I'll get detention (banned or the thread deleted)

Yes it has changed my life and has made me aware of a lot of issues that concerns the asian culture that I wouldn't normally get to see here in London.

The largest impact for me was connecting with other mixed race Asians. It made me realize that a lot of what I have to deal with as a hapa or mixed Asian isn't limited to me personally, but experienced by a lot of people. Even adoptees.

the impact that YW has on me is that it convinced me that if i had any kids, i don't want to let them become asian american. gonna raise them in asia.

I didn't realize until YW that a lot of people are conservative and support Bush ... I like free debate but I'm on a campus that is so liberal it makes your eyeballs hurt... it's interesting how this is most definitely not what the rest of the world thinks.

i dont know about that for myself...
i kinda like living in the united states...
but yeah, when it comes to raising kids... like when it comes to adoption... i would like to see more asians, asian american families adopting asians...
