so all asians eat dog, right? or at least all koreans do, per jay leno. have you tried it? where? what does it taste like? what kind of dogs are usually served? how are they served - e.g., what parts? are they usually cut into bite-size pieces? do you have to use a fork and knife? are dog drumsticks ever served?

do all blacks eat nothing but collard greens, fried chicken, and pickled pigs feet? no...
i don't know if ur serious or if this is a semi rant...
Never had it. It's against the law in the Philippines, actually. I think I remember my dad saying it was a very limited practice in his day, constrained to remote/rural areas. I'll have to ask him for more info. Sorry I can't be much more help right now.

Dog usually comes in a soup. If you have eaten yukkaejang, just take the beef out and put in dog instead. Mmmm. You can find in in many places in Korea and some in Japan. The dogs are not pedigree pets, they are raised on dog farms. Usually the free running ones taste better from what I have heard.
IT tastes like beef, but less chewy... like with the consistency of chicken. The parts are usually from the hind quarters, where most of dogs meat is, tho the front legs and shoulders can be used too. You use a spoon. I have never heard of dog drumsitics.

so its like free range chickens huh??
only time that i have been tricked into believing that i was eating dog was when i was in Bangkok, eating "kuay tiew" (noodles) and they had "look chin" (meat balls)
and my friends told me it was dog meat. needless to say, i spat it out - and had a good laugh.
then again, there was that Jack in the Crack thing back in the 90's when they were accused of using horse meat. . . .

Are you sure...cause like my friend, he's Filipino American, he went to the Philippines once with his family and he was eating this interesting meat dish at a restaurant, and he remembered seeing a dog tied to a rope out front before going inside....and after he was done he asked his mom what it was, and she was like 'well....why don't you look outside and see if the dog is still there?' :gross: :gross: but *shrug*

I've never had dog, but they have restaurants in Vietnam that specifically serve dog.
Have you guys ever had Vietnamese "7 courses of beef" ? Well, my aunt in Vietnam lives beside a restaurant named "7 courses of tender young dog." I guess there's at least 7 ways to serve dog?
ChinaLama would chime in with something like "well, its not my fault you treat your food like pets" :)

It is definitely against the law. I am not sure what the penalties are and how well it is being enforced. I talked a bit with my dad and he said it's more common in the north of Luzon, near Baguio, with the Igorots. People are still eating dog, they're just breaking the law in the process. =)

speaking of dog food...two nice tidbits
1) it would be the best food to take to a deserted island since dogs and humans have fairly similar dietary needs and all of it is supplied in the dog food
2) dog food doesn't taste good...i've had beggin' strips (fake bacon for dogs) and some alpo.....i can see why dogs love human food....

it's alive and it can bite. I don't think it's worth the risk of getting your tongue bitten off just to taste a puppy. I'd much rather throw one in a vat of boiling water, cook it in an oven, or even microwave it first. :)
hmm it may explode in a microwave tho. I guess oven'd be best.

:D
While it is true that Hitler's doctors put him on a vegetarian diet to cure him of flatulence and a chronic stomach disorder, his biographers such as Albert Speer, Robert Payne, John Toland, et al, have attested to his liking for ham sausages and other cured meats. Even Spencer says that Hitler was a vegetarian from only 1931 on: "It would be true to say that up to 1931, he preferred a vegetarian diet, but on some occasions would deviate from it." He committed suicide in the bunker when he was 56 in 1945; that would have given him 14 years as a vegetarian, but we have the testimony to the contrary of the woman chef who was his personal cook in Hamburg during the late 1930s - Dione Lucas. In her "Gourmet Cooking School Cookbook," she records that his favorite dish - the one that he customarily requested - was stuffed squab (pigeon). "I do not mean to spoil your appetite for stuffed squab, but you might be interested to know that it was a great favorite with Mr. Hitler, who dined in the hotel often."
myah.....and even if hitler was vegetarian...more reason to eat meat....
