Stupid question of the week: Why are there so many Koreans named Kim? My dad told me that we were "Kaesong Kims," as if that meant something. Is there anything that Koreans do back home to differentiate?

All the Koreans in my high school have the last name of Kim and none of them are releated to each other.

well. most korean last names are categorized by different ...
um, in korean it's called "bon".
depending on where your ancestor lived.
kae song is in north korea.

the more obscure last names, such as, "ryu"
only have one "bon" i think.
whereas, kim or lee have quite a lot.

so that's probably why there's so many kims and lees


which is also why it's fobidden to marry someone of the sam bon.
in korea.
i don't know how it is now.
i heard they've become a bit more lenient

hehe ... I remember reading about this team doing research on Chinese soldiers in the US Civil War. They thought they had a good lead when they found a pair of brothers named Fong ... but it turned out they were blonds from Norway. they were really surprised when they finally saw the pictures.
