Anyone here ever tried blasting your resume out? Most of the offers I've seen are pretty expensive and I was never sure how successful these types of things were.

What the hell is that? Hiring some company to create cover letters and mass mail resumes to various contacts?

What about finding an agent to help you search?

isn't that the same thing as sending it to recruiters?

I'm not sure, that's why I was asking. I was under the impression that each recruiter was limited to his or her own respective contacts, whereas a resume blasting service just ejaculated your resume in one stroke...

I did send my resume up to a site (which no longer exists) which did a smaller blanket recruiter mailing (I don't know the exact number since the site's not up anymore). I only got one response back and it was a recruiter in Houston who asked for a MS Word copy of my resume. He said he didn't have any OO/C++/Java openings at the time, but that he had seen some about a month ago and hopefully some more would come down the pipeline.

Well, all it takes is one opportunity to go through. I had a friend who graduated with an MBA (BSCS undergraduate) who only had 1 interview like 2 months after he graduated. Well, now he's working at a decent salary in a relatively stable position with long term prospects.

I apply through recruitment agencies online and get them to blast my c.v through.

I don't think I've ever got an interview through blasting my c.v to companies direct.

When they say they'll keep my c.v on file I'm always thinking yeah right, All they'll do is bin it.

i dunno.. i've never tried it but it doesn't seem like it would be effective.

when i had my resume posted on monster.. i had like 4 or 5 people call me about it. (thats not blasting right??) most HR people will go to monster to peruse resume's. Its all about making your resume stand out, so i think if it is a generic cover letter.. it would be more difficult
