hahha that post was made in july!
a brit friend told me that the coldest winter he spent was not in the UK, but in HK. damn builders are too cheap to put in insulation and central heating!!! i had to wear several layers of clothing to sleep during those winter nights.

One thing that I must say about Korea that is superior to Japan. Housing.
What I wouldn't give for an ondol floor right now!
Japanese houses don't have central heating at all, while Korean ones have heated floors! They are awesome!
Japan is cold as crap right now.

Hmm? I'm in Shatin up on a mountain (okay, a rather short mountain), and I'm doing fine with just a long-sleeved shirt and an ultra-thin windbreaker. In the meantime everyone around me has bundled up, including all the other California kids, who are basically living inside their respective UC sweatshirts. Locals are busting out wool sweaters, heavy jackets, etc. Sometimes I feel like I should wear more clothes just so I blend in better, people keep asking me "Aren't you cold?" I guess 7 years of east coast living redefined "cold" for me.
Actually I think on average I'm less cold these days, cuz they finally stopped using AC in most of the buildings on campus.

You suck. :P I've been an east coaster for a while now (since college) and my body has already adjusted to the HK warm weather from one month of being here. Now it won't go back. I'm still not as bad as some people though. My roomie is from HK and she's lugging out the parka.
You think girls just have naturally lower body temps? I've noticed guys are never as cold.
BeTheReds....heated floors? Oh my fantasy just came true.. :luv:

I don't really mind it being cold outside so much tho.
I go out with a light jacket still.
Meanwhile people are wearing scarves and gloves and down jackets.
The East Coast is strange. It's one of the only places that can get hot enough to make you faint AND cold enough to freeze you to death, conveniently never making snow on school days, but during winter vacation so you can't go do anything.

Haha. True that. In NYC we don't get snow, we get dirty slush. Blech.

yeah, well it's more like the nights when you're in bed though. that's when i got really cold. and waking up i always have to sneeze a few times. (of course that also has to do with the terrible air quality in HK...)

Traditionally in northern China they also got those heated brick beds called "kang" ... man I kept wishing for those in some cold Massachusetts Octobers when OPP hadn't turned on heating in the dorms yet :pissed: but guys should be just as cold, same average body temperature. They're just too macho to admit it. :P In fact, girls tend to have a warmer torso than guys. But then, girl's extremities are obviously colder, you can tell even just by holding hands or when a girl brushes her foot up against a guy's leg. poor circulation is to blame, apparently.

slowly doing a subject change here?
Hah! Poor circulation? What are you implying.....
In the winter, when I'm wrapped in blankets and wearing thermal undies, my guy friends are running around in shorts. Freaks.

I hate that also, happens way too often. Wouldn't it make sense to keep it set at a reasonable temperature year round, rather than say 85 in the winter and 55 in the summer. Oh yeah, we don't live in a world where people think logically. Nevermind.

totally off subject...
but i've never fully gotten used to fahrenheit measurements of temperature. i've always used celsius, even before i moved back to HK to work.

Isn't that the worst? Just as you're lying in bed all warm and comfy, your lady decides to plant her icicle cold ass feet against your calves to try to get warm!!
Still them shiitzz somewhere else! Now instead of you being cold and me being comfy, we're both cold and uncomfortable. Some people!

now completely off subject: hah. for human-sized measurements (my height, how much is in half a glass of water, how much does this pile of books weigh), I'm better at metric. but once we're getting to big distances or volumes (how long is it around the earth, how far do you think it is from here to that big mountain over here), I gotta use miles and convert. in particular, paying for gas by the litre, and figuring out gas "mileage" in kms per litre always boggles my mind. good thing I don't own a car.
