compliments laced with insults

did someone ever compliment you but laced it along with an insult?

once in jhs. this girl i didn't particulary like said
"meena, you're not much to look at, except for your hands"

i had to think before i decided it was an insult.
i punched her in the face and got sent to the dean's office.

but ever since then.
i keep thinking the only redeeming physical quality i have are my hands.
i can't seem to forget it.
and i don't even think they're all that pretty either.
she scarred me for life. that girl.

Don't let that hater/jerk get inside your head any longer. I have to admit I admire your balls in punching that loser in the face. I think it's a stereotype that most asians wouldn't do that. So represent!

LOL, I don't know why this is so funny. I guess it's the image of you cocking your head to the side as you contemplate whether or not this is an insult. Then suddenly deciding it is and wailing on that bitches ass.

Yeah, passive-aggressive people do that alot. Some other examples:

You're pretty hot for an Asian guy = if I was white, I'd be just ok
You've got a great personality = you're ugly
You have a hearty laugh = you're a loud mouth
You're thick, but you don't look fat = you look fat

I know there are more, but those jumped right out at me.

Well, in grade 7, this girl told me that my ass stuck out, and then kept calling me fat ass all the time. Only last summer did I actually realize that I had a nice ass (XDDDDDD), and that she was one of those chicks that thought that anybody with more ass than no ass had a big ass. I'm happy now, because she's a lot thicker than me but with no ass somehow. XDDD I'm sorry, but the realization was a triumphant moment. I used to have next to no self esteem. Nowadays, I'm really happy with myself.
But man, a lot of comments stick in my head. I just can't remember what right now. But many comments stick for a while unless something contradicts them. I tend to overanalyze, so I can really read into people, and I surprise them a lot. But it sucks too, because I end up dwelling on certain things about them that involve me. But I'm not satisfied yet until I have good proof it's true. So dwell dwell dwell.
