View Full Version : The big break up

This must be the first time that I have ever broken up with someone and felt utterly devastated afterwards. We were planning to get married, but I don't know my career situation very well, and we have religious differences, and we were keeping it a secret from our parents for the whole time. As soon as she got brave and decided to tell them, the wheels went in motion and I cut it off, so that we can both avoid the grief. But the grief has encompassed us both.
I truly did love her.
I think I am gonna take a break from women for a while.
Wah wah wah I want your pity.. yeah i know some of you are gonna bitch like that about what i said..
So anyway, lets hear some advice...

Sorry to hear that man. Best way to get over a girl is to get into a girl. It's crappy but true, rebounds work.

Rebounds don't eliminate the pain.. they only temporarily hold it off for a while.

if you have enough rebounds, time will displace your pain.

when my fiance and i broke up.
i took a lot of tranquilizers.
i had countless rebound flings.
it's been a year n' a half?
my heart still shakes a bit thinking of him.
i hope you find a better way coping with your heartache than i did.
and if you do. let me know.
just take care.

oh. no.
i'm sorry to hear this eugene.
i always thought you get one true love during a lifetime.
the kind that changes who you are. forever.
but i think i'm wrong... i think you can have..serveral. ;)
or maybe a couple.
i think the worst break ups are the kind... where, outside
influences are the ones causing it.
when you don't want it to end but it's the best thing to do.
i say take a vacation. get out of the country.
that worked for me.
and um.. a shrink. if it's bad.
or just tell your story to anyone and everyone who'll listen.
and to..let yourself wallow in the sadness and pain.
it's more painful to try to fight it.

sorry to hear about your situation. Well, I was going to marry a guy til he cheated on me with another woman and had a baby with her. messed up i know. anyway, we were together for four years. So, yes, it was devastating for a week or so, but i knew life goes on.
All I have to say is that it takes time. Try to engage in things you like to do, and find people to see to make for the "gaps" when you used to see her. Of course, it's a process you'll need to pass... and a painful process it is, but remember, when one door closes..another one opens.

get drunk
get laid
get high
he can:
get high
get laid
get drunk
or:
get laid
get drunk
get high
but personally i like doing it in the order i first mentioned.

Eat lots of chocolate, I think I read somewhere that chocolate raises your serotonin levels, giving you a temporary feeling of joy or contentment. Hallmark wasn't all that stupid after all.

singing --> releases endorphins --> happiness
running --> releases endorphins --> happiness
are these correct?
anyhow, if you think of it strategically, bethereds, i.e., "i am sad due to a chemical imbalance and therefore i have to engage in this activity to get myself out of this state of sadness," it makes it easier. in part because you won't be focusing on the real problem <_<

yeah but you have to be regularly taking SSRI drugs for a while before they start working. for prozac it's at least 2 or 3 months, for zoloft i think it could be as short as one month.
thinking about sadness in biological terms would make me want to drop lots of e

don't know about endorphins, but i know exercising facilitates serotonin release.
and you know kasie, in the same token, you could think about happiness in the biological sense.

I remember reading in a random Time or Newsweek, not 100% sure which it was.....50/50 it was one of them...a while back....that chocolate has a chemical in that similar to that of I forgot, either Marijuana or crack cocaine....but it raises the level of a chemical in you brain, and if you eat enough chocolate you can actually get high......of course no one has actually eaten that amount yet mainly because the amount of that chemical in choclate is so low, you'd have to eat like over 50 lbs of chocolate.....my biology and my physics teachers both showed it to our classes.....I'm just not sure which magazine had it tho......

only anally, since i must state the theorem of male virginity, men who have not been anally penatrated are virgins because virginity can only be lost via pentration via the anus.

BTR,
Shit I am sorry to hear that...u can always MSN me if you wanna vent, you kno..........
Kinda goin on a tangent here....
Regarding love, I wish I could say that I've been in love before but in the end when I finally recover and I see what makes me feel better (i.e. whether it be other girls, other pleasures, pastimes, distractions, time, whatever), it makes me question what I truly felt in the first place and exactly what I wanted and why I was so sad. A lotta people can say that they feel devastated after a break-up because they long to be with that other person, but for me it's not that simple. A lotta times I think I want that other person but it's really something else (i.e. perhaps feelings of fulfillment or feelings of significance or simply the feeling that somebody else wants me as their boyfriend or whatever)...I guess that's the problem is that I have never truly figured out what i really want or need. I'm also weird in that the more i get to know someone (i.e. the closer I get), the less likely I will ever become romantically interested in them, which tells you something about my readiness for anything serious and what being with a girl actually means to me even at this ripe old age of 23. I think I've been sprung before but I dunno if i've ever truly loved anyone yet.
Sorry for the weird take on this thread, and btw everyone no I do not plan on going into bedroom wallpaper decor or flower arrangement.
